Honestly, that depends on a lot of information you haven't given us. If you are ultra morbidly obese, you can do it fairly easily by setting yourself a healthy diet and moderate exercise. If however, you are trying to get down to a tiny weight, and aren't that huge to begin with, it'll be more difficult. Your age, gender, and current level of physical fitness are all major factors, and you haven't provided that.

Given the lack of info, the best I can do is very generic.

Diet: Set yourself at around 1500 calories/day, while you're trying to lose. You can up it by a few hundred once you've reached your goal weight. Make sure it's balanced, by the food pyramid, and cut down a lot on sweets and junk food, especially soda. Drink 8 or more glasses of water/day.

Exercise: Every day, do 30-90 minutes of cardio. Power walking, running, biking, swimming, raquetball, or other high movement sports all count. You'll want to monitor as you're doing it, especially to start, that your heart rate is approximately between 120-150 while you're at it. If it ever hits 180, immediately stop and take a break. If you have specific problem areas you want to work on, start doing toning exercises for them AFTER you've settled into your cardio routine for a few weeks.

Dependent on your starting weight, height, sex, age, etc., you might be able to lose that amount in 6 months with the above, and not cutting into your daily routine too much. If you have the time, and your body can handle it, you can add in more exercise time than stated above. 3 hours of cardio/day, spaced out over the day in 1 hour sets, will rapidly increase your weight loss, and do so in a healthy way, but most people can't fit it in.

Good luck.

give me $3000 and I'll train you to lose 120lbs. email me

I dont think thats even possible. Maybe a year, maybe.

excercise and eat healthy! U want to do it healthy....and I guess it depends on ur budget u could do gastric by-pass....

I doubt it's possible to lose 120Ibs in 6months...not even 10 months. That would probably take a year to a year 1/2 depending on your dedication.

..but first, you'll have to develop a certain mentality that will help you focus and not give up whenever you feel you're going off track. You also need the mentality to control your food temptations (avoiding junk, fatty foods etc). You also need to understand that this will not happen overnight. It may take even longer than 5 months to get to a size 6 but if you put your mind to it you'll succeed. But it's good that you've already set your goals.

Next identify the foods you eat. Do you eat deserts after every meal? do you always go for second servings? etc. Avoid fatty foods and eat nutritious foods that contain all the nutrients your body will need ( vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber etc) to have a balanced diet. Replace drinking sodas, caffeines, and other sugary drinks for water & juices. If you find water too tasteless try drinking Propel - flavored water with only 25 calories.

Eat less, but eat more often. If possible, eat 4-5 meals a day. This helps your metabolism and blood sugar to stay level as well. This does require a change in your schedule. Eat less within 6 hours of your bed time. You're less likely to burn the calories closer to your bed time. It's fine to eat a large breakfast and lunch because your body will be working on burning those calories for the whole day. Large dinners are likely to go unburned and converted into fat.

Eat healthy snacks when you feel hungry between meal times. Healthy snacks would be things high in fiber, fruits and vegetables. Avoid high sugar and high calorie snacks. This will help you get nutrients as well as help lower your appetite so you won't overeat during meals. Increase your fiber intake. Fiber acts as negative calories. It's also filling and healthy for your digestive system. Make it a part of every meal.

Increase physical activity.Since you want to lose weight and obviously tone up, you need to do cardio workouts (running,swimming,cycling,skipping,- basically anything that makes you run out of breath). Cardio burns fat whereas weight training (resistance training)basically reshapes and tones your body. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism will be. Getting more exercise can be fun! try something that you love i.e dancing, rollerblading, tennis, volleyball or any other sport).

Find active friends. Find people that will drag you out to do more active things. It doesn't have to be much, but any exercise, even walking around the mall, is better than none.

Don't get discouraged. After one or two weeks of initial weight loss, it is quite common for your metabolism to slow down as it adjusts to the new calorie count. Stay on course and you'll see results. In some cases, the scale will tell you your weight is barely changing, but you may be gaining muscle weight while losing fat weight. Also make sure to weigh yourself first thing in the morning to try to avoid the fluctuations in weight due to water.

depends on how much you weigh in the 1st place, could you survive at 120lbs less.

then simply put, have a varied diet with plenty of fruit and veg.

have a big breakfast with slow releasing carbs like porridge, not sugary processed cereals) don't snack on crap, only eat at meal times

try not to eat past 6/7 pm so food wont stay in you tummy overnight, go unused and turn to fat.

Exercise more, preferably at the start of the day, which will help boost your metabolism. as long as you use more energy in a day than you consume you will lose weight.

If your looking for instant results you might have to use a appetite suppressant, and speed (amphetamine) isnt healthy in the long run but would do the trick
