Eating problems..?!

Question: I've always been a picky eater. From when I was young I hated to eat most foods. My family always ate together & if I didnt eat my dinner I would be sent to my room and not allowed to eat. This happened alot until my parents finally realized they were starving me. I would rather starve than eat the ham, steak, beans or whatever it was. They started allowed me to eat cereal and other things just to keep me at the table with them. That was in 6th grade.

I'm now a Junior in high school and I still have those bad eating habits. I just honest to god HATE the thought of eating meat and most veggies and if I try it usually ends with gagging.
It's gotten worse lately. I feel fat so I never eat more than 800-1000 calories a day, (keep in mind I was never a big eater anyways) .. i LOVE to eat even if I have a very limited selection..

When people hear 'eating disorder' they think of anorexia or bulimia..is there another lesser known thing i could have?

I know you don't want dietary advice, but your diet is what you have to change if you want to be healthier and sleep better. It sounds to me as if you do have an eating problem. You are able to admit it online, so you might think about trying to confide in another friend. I have a friend who has an eating disorder, so I know what it is like. Honestly, you should think about getting some psychological help, because that will in fact, help you. Don't feel like you are a crazy person because I am suggesting this to you, but going and talking to a therapist can help more than you will ever believe. But this line : "I feel fat so I never eat more than 800-1000 calories a day" is a sure spot for an eating disorder, you should ALWAYS consume at least 1500 calories a day, more if you are active. Please do yourself a favor and seek help from a clinical psychologist, before you do irreversible damage to your body. I am a biochemsitry student so I know what not eating enough can lead to, and it CAN kill you. Eventually your body starts to metabolize your muscles, INCLUDING your heart muscle, and you die. Please please PLEASE seek help.

you have no specific eating disorder that ive studied, maybe a lesser form of anorexia, you should seek counsling

Have you talked to your family doc? They should be able to help. Hopefully they won't have to feed you intravenously.

hmmmm

You could have an EDNOS, eating disorder not otherwise specified.
But there are certain criteria.
Like if you arent actually fat, but think you are, and restrict yourself, you could have one.

check that website for more ifno!

Try going to a psychiatrist, its probably a mental disorder. I know this might sound harsh when I say mental disorder, but it could be true, some people have eating disorder, not because of their body but because of something tragic or negative event that happened in their life that somehow affected them mentally. You do have depression problem which you stated, so this is one of a sign its mental. Well good luck I hope I help you out, seek help ok and take care of your self.
