All whey protein powders are essentially the same. The difference between them lies in whether they add additional sugar, fats or supplements like creatine.

Muscle Milk is basically just 100% whey protein with some added sugar to increase the calories. CytoSport also puts a bunch of pseudoscientific blabber on the label about compounds that help your body create more creatine or fancy, impressive sounding names for sunflower seed oil ("Lean Lipids") but at the end of the day, there is nothing magical about Muscle Milk.

The most important thing is to time your whey consumption around your workouts (20 grams one hour before and 40 grams immediately following your training with a fast digesting carb and some casein.)

I personally use Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey Powder or GNC's 100% Whey (when it's on sale.) There are other, less expensive and probably equally effective whey proteins out there. I just happen to really like the flavor and nutritional profile (low carbs/fat) of the ON product.

Also, when you hear people telling you about "cheap" whey proteins and their "low absorption" rates, don't listen. They are either spouting typical supplement manufacter marketese, or they heard a rumor somewhere (probably at the gym) and are repeating it.

Whey protein is whey protein, with the exception of a few differences in processing (microfiltering, hydrolyzing, etc.) ALL whey protein has a very high bio-availability naturally and the brand or manufacturer has almost nothing to do with this.

In fact, GNC's whey protein is actually manufactured by Optimum Nutrition. The only people who seriously talk about other product's absorption-rate are usually supplement makers trying to find some differentiation between their whey and someone elses. So they come up with ridiculous marketing claims like "78% better absorption!"

Don't believe the hype. It would be like an chicken farmer telling you that "our eggs have a protein efficiency ration of 3.8!" Uh, right, all eggs have a 3.8 PE.

Finally, creatine is different from whey. Creatine helps drive water into the muscle and allows you to recover more quickly between sets. Whey provides a method of providing fast digesting aminos for muscle recovery. Whey is protein and creatine is a single amino acid.

If I had to choose between the two, I would choose whey protein first. As you advance, you can try creatine to break plateaus.

Best of luck!

Creatine is an amino acid and more helpful for running marathons .

I think muscle milk has more protein and for building muscles.

you should just exercise daily and ive heard of that all it is is just like regular milk but with more protein. just have regular milk

Muscle milk is a protein supplement with some more amino acids added in. Creatine is not an amino acid. Creatine is found mostly in red meat and used by your muscles. It became popular about 10 years ago and now is considered a staple among weightlifters and athletes. Taking creatine will increase your strength and muscle mass.

Muscle Milk is protein powder. Protein is essential for building muscle. If you've ever tried a protein shake before you know that they are hard to put down but Muscle Milk is probably one of the better tasting one's out there.

This is not the same as creatine. Creatine boosts energy which allows you to squeeze out an additional rep or two when weight training. When an abundance of creatine is stored n the muscle, the muscle will hold more water in its cells and become what is known as volumized or super-hydrated. The more volumized a muscle is, it will promote the synthesis of protein as well as deter the breakdown of protein.

I would not recomment gnc products, however. The tend to cheat you for your money. They're very expensive and their absorption rate is terrible. E-mail me if you'd like more information on Apex supplements. The gym I work for is a partner or Apex and I can get you some discounts on your purchases.
