How long do you have to have stopped smoking?!

Question: i havent smoked in about a week, after smoking for 3 years and being heavily addicted to nicotine. if i start craving them is it from the nicotine addiction? or is this nicotine out of my system and cravings purely habitual?

NO it is the physical craving for the nicotine, it takes a good month or two b/c then the psychology hits you, keep going you CAN do it MORE people who quit cold turkey are more successful than some program or medication! Stay busy and do sunflower seeds or something to occupy your mouth! GOOD LUCK!

Smoking contributes to so many cancers and is the ONE thing we can prevent! Good news is your body starts to repair immediately after stopping!

my brother stopped cold turkey and said the first week was the hardest and then by about 3 weeks out, all cravings stopped. He has not smoked for about 5 years, but he has slipped and smoked when he was drunk.. so watch that...

Cravings: the physical (above) 1 week worst, 2-3 weeks out probably gone.

Habit: yes, this plays part two. best is to replace this habit with a new one... (music, the gym, whatever)...

I just quit myself. For almost 2 months now. After a week I got really bad cravings also. Seems weird after you havent smoked for a week. Its totally the habit. When your bored you smoke, after you eat you smoke, when you get up in the morining you smoke. Its all about getting away from that habit of doing it. The nicotine is gone.
