Good diet, regular exersise, knowing how to relax, no booze or smoking. I'm not sure how being hard on yourslef or no sex made the list.

what??

just don't eat a truck load of food per day. eat no more than 2500 calories per day and no one will get heart disease. don't even have to exercise. you can eat almost anything you want. if you eat less than 2500 calories a day, no heart disease.

and of course don't eat only butter, or smoke, or do drugs.

HOWEVER, if you ALREADY have heart disease, that's a different story....

No smoking. That's the only thing you need to quit.
Alcohol in moderation....Sticking to just one small glass of red wine (and by sticking to I mean that glass is all you should be drinking) can actually lower your chances of heart disease.
Cut down on your salt intake. This means no added salt to cooked foods and no salty snacks.
Your diet doesn't need to be radical. Just cutting down on junk food and oily foods as well as including plenty of greens and fruits decrease the chances of a lot of diseases including heart disease.
Exercise is a big help. And FYI sex is an exercise. It burns a lot of calories.
And another important factor is lowering your stress level, whether it's at work or at home...learn to relax.
Not sure exactly what you mean by being hard on youself... if you mean giving up everything you like....nope, not the answer. Everything in moderation...Except smoking...that's got to stop.
