Dance workouts?!

Question: i need some help and suggestions on what you consider as the best dance workout routines

my goal is for overall body toning, gaining more upper body and lower body muscles, it would be best to learn some dance moves too =)

if you have experiences with certain type of dance workouts that you think fits what i am looking for
please let me know
thank you =)

ps. i tried youtube, but there are a lot of options, so it's hard to narrow down, therefore it's best if you have learned from any =) thanks

Have you heard of the New York City Ballet Workout? Any dancer's workout will be a killer and very good for you to get in shape but this one is supposed to be particularly good.

I've not tried it yet, am starting tomorrow, but know people who do it regularly and they feel wonderful, have lost some weight, toned up and their gait is much more graceful than it was before - grace requires strength.

Do an actual dancer's workout/warmup and I think you'll get more than DVDs that have you dancing all over the house. You may find some good dancer's workouts on DVDs but they won't have you doing choreography and using steps (at least they shouldn't) they're more stationary like Yoga mixed with Pilates and using your own body weight against gravity...you'll sweat and get toned really well. I used to dance every day - was in a prof dance program - and it was the warm up that was the real killer not the choreography.

Your body does need good cardio strength, too, so don't neglect that...walking is fine but walking up and down some hills is better.

Good luck and have fun!!

You could try Michelle LeMay's dance workout videos, Jennifer Galardi, or even try Hip Hop Abs with Sean T.
