Doesn't anybody care anymore?!

Question: I grabbed a random product from the store. This is what i found in it's contents, just 3 contents out of many:

Partially Hydrogenated Oil - Anything Hydrogenated is extremely bad for you. Do the research you will see.

Sorbitan Tristearate - An additive used also in Nail Strangthening Cream and McDonalds Margerine. Extermely bad for you.

Soy Lecithin - Comes from sludge leftovers after crude soy oil goes through a "degumming" process. It is a waste product containing solvents and pesticides and has a consistency ranging from a gummy fluid to a plastic solid.

What the heck is going on with people that they would put this crap in our food? Why is the government allowing this?

Okay people may say, no one is forcing you to eat it. You really expect every single person to know what these ingredients are, and to spend 3 hours checking ingredients of everything they eat? Where is the accountability?

What a sad state to be in where money comes before peoples health.

Ugh, I know! It's terrible! Like you, I always check food labels, but this junk is in so many of the foods that it's hard to avoid a lot of them. I try to buy organic for this reason, but sometimes, what I'm looking for just doesn't come in organic. =[ Maybe this is what causes most health problems for people. Who knows, this could be the cause of diseases!

you have a very good point.

they pretty much put anything in our foods cuz they know most of us wont bother checking. and cuz its cheaper

Until the economy improves, people won't be able to afford the foods that are better for them. And until advertising for health foods is better, they won't have the desire to, either. So until the demand for health is greater, the food companies will do whatever they wish.

Well the world is sick. lol

I hate it

I just saw a commercial this morning trying to convince people that mcdonalds is healthy. lmao
all they want to do is make money and the funniest part is half the people in the world believe the commercial.

But hey, there is always one brightside. If you care and nobody else does. Then whos gonna be healthier and look better? just a thought, Sooner or later everyone is going to be jealous of you. ahaha

At least I'm not the only one reading labels. Keep up the good work and stick with fresh fruits and veggies, chicken and fish, a steak once a week (that's all you need), and lots of water.

U are so right!! It is a shame........The govt. thinks they can do whatever cuz it SEEMS okay for now!! It is scary!! Also my best friend told me that her uncle worked in a food factory for several years that made candy, etc....and the ingredient "blue1" has been found to cause cancer. Of course the claim is that there is not enough of the dye in our foods to cause cancer.....but who is to say??? he refuses to eat or drink anything that has blue1 in it. He has known people who have gotten cancer that appears it is from the blue food dye. the other colors are -k- to consume!! But if u look at all the stuff w/blue 1, it is shocking!! If u ask me, I think all this stuff is really the govt way of population control!!!! ????

I sOoOoOoO agree! it's terrible!!!! i just have to shop at organic health food stores and eat as much homemade and fresh food as possible. I especially like the oils at the health food store that is trans fat free. YOU MAKE AN EXCELLENT POINT! WE NEED TO CHANGE!!!

Yo hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately, our food is not as "regulated" as people may think. Like the term says, money talks, and money makes the world go around.

Without even looking at the words people CANT pronounce, you see that evidence in the breakfast foods for children. 90% of the cereals out there are crap for kids. People send them off to school wired from the high sugar content, thinking they were giving them a good breakfast.

Good made good points by the way.

Yeah. My Dad's one of those people who check everything. He taught me a good lesson: If you can't pronounce the ingredients, it's not good for you.

Yes, I do read labels. The best (or the worst, actually) is when something is labeled "all natural" or "sweetened with real fruit juice" or "contains 5g of whole grain" or "contains 100% vitamin C" and don't bother to read the labels or don't know any better. Every time I see or hear the Sunny Delight commercial I think, "If I want to give my kids an orange flavored drink with 100% vitamin C I'll give them orange juice without the corn syrup."

Sadly, people think something is healthy because the commercial says it is. Total may be whole grain and contain 100% of the reccommended daily allowance of daily nutrients, but it contains corn syrup. Therefore, I don't buy it. I think (just by reading these questions and posts) that some people seem to think that if a product claims to help with weight loss, then it's healthy. Not if it doesn't have whole grains and does have corn syrup.

Also, because I do eat at least four servings of whole grains a day at at least five servings of fruits and veggies, I don't need the magic yogurt that is supposed to help with regularity. Go figure. However, I don't think dairy is healthy.

Commercials are not for the thinking.

I do think one can eat healthy for cheap or cheaper. It just takes thinking and planning. I can have a veggie burger on whole wheat with organic ketchup, with stir-fried potatoes and steamed veggies for cheaper than a burger and fries at McDonald's.

People have been amazed at how thin I am after having my daughter, who is now five months old. Yes, I am seven pounds lighter than what I was before my pregnancy. However, I live a lifestyle that consists of taking care of myself and eating whole real foods, no meat, no eggs and no dairy. Go figure.

How about one of the major cause of obesity?
HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP.
It's EVIL.

Why does the FDA allow this? Because it's an antiquated, backwards bureaucratic load of nonsense.
