definately invest a little extra money on buying a treadmill. I use my bf's parents every day and i'd love to have one just like it but i know they paid about $2000 for. Even with 3 people using it, it has held up for 3 years now and isn't showing any signs of wearing. It is nice because you can enter your weight and height so it can help you accurately help you keep track of progress. It also has a good range of incline. Some days i don't feel like running as hard so I walk fast on it at a higher incline which i can really feel the burn when i'm doing this. hopefully they will want a new one by the time i get my unattached garage converted into a gym so i can get the old one off of their hands!!!

The more expensive ones will definitely last longer. Mine cost about $1800 but we got in on clearance for $1200. Its a commercial grade treadmill.

The cheaper ones work well for a while but then parts start breaking. A treadmill is one thing that I would suggest spending the extra money on to get a good one, unfortunately.

I bought a cheap 300.00 dollar one from wal-mart and had problems within 3 months time. I would recommend you purchase a pricier treadmill. Also consumer reports say not to purchase extended warranties, but in the case of the treadmill I would also suggest it. I have not been able to find anyone locally who can fix my treadmill. What I would suggest is to check prices and a really good place to look is at Sears if you have one. The reason I suggest Sears is because they usually have good promotions and if you are willing to use a Sears card they give another 10% off.
