Cutting weight from 165 to 140?!
Question: I have about 6 months to get down the weight. I'm already exercising hardcore, but I'm wondering if I should stop doing weights, or continue the weights but just run more?

initially if you keep up with the weights you will gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat, but in the long run those muscles will help you lose weight faster because your body uses more calories to move a more developed muscle than one that isn't. Keep up with the weights and alter your diet to take in less calories a day and you will see the pounds fall. 15 lbs in 6 months is a realistic goal that is achievable if you say on the target.
Continue doing weights, IT helps
Keep up the weights. If you just get skinny without muscle tone, you'll have weird loose skin :)
