If I feel hungry, should I eat?!


Question: They say to listen to your body... If I feel hungry, does that mean my body NEEDS more calories, or is it partially a physiological mechanism when abundant food is available?


Answers: They say to listen to your body... If I feel hungry, does that mean my body NEEDS more calories, or is it partially a physiological mechanism when abundant food is available?

The rule is:
NEVER GO HUNGRY.
try to eat food in a way that you dont pass the daily calorie limit, but you dont starve yourself either. if you go hungry, you'll reach your breaking point and revert back to your old lifestyle and eating habits.

Here are some suggestions for snacks you could choose (all guilt-free):
-fruits: apples, pears, citrus fruits, kiwis and peaches. bananas are good as well because they fill you up quickly, but dont have more than 2 a day because they contain a lot of sugar (= lots of calories)
-vegetables: chop up some carrots, cucumbers and celery to munch on while watching tv. if you cant live without dip, try a low-fat one. Heres one that i like:
yoghurt dip. mix 3 tablespoons of lowfat yoghurt with finely chopped garlic and a pinch of salt. add a few drops of lemon juice and pepper if you want extra flavor.
-nuts: even though they are healthy, dont go overboard with these. they contain a lot of fat. choose almonds and walnuts instead of peanuts or pistachios.
-pretzels: these are the healthiest alternatives to any "movie" snacks. One small popcorn contains around 3 days worth of fat in it so AVOID IT. Chips are just as bad. Pretzels, although they are carbs, do not contain as much fat.

Here are a few recipes for snacks:
- Chop up an apple into small cubes in a plate and put one tablespoon of cottage cheese on top. sprinkle with cinnamon and a bit of sugar. (Own recipe.. its REALLY good!)
-Mix one cup of any frozen or fresh berries with one cup of chopped walnuts. Put a thin layer of lowfat yoghurt on top and swirl one tablespoon of honey on top. (Delicious! its almost like fruit yoghurt)
-Warm applesauce with milk (you might not like this at first.. takes some time for your tastebuds to get used to it, but i like it!)

Hunger is actually felt in the throat, not the stomach. The pains in your stomach are really your body in withdrawl from all the bad stuff that we put into our bodies. I say have some fruit.

have you ever read up on the south beach diet? your glycemic index is gonna make you feel really full then really starved when you eat food with a high sugar content and you'll be supprised what foods will set you off!! Other foods will keep you feeling satisfied longer and then there are healthy snakes verses whats in a vending machine......its worth checking out!

u feel hungry when u need food. so eat. but be careful with what u eat ! u can satisfy ur hunger with a cheeze burger or a cucumber. what u choose will determine ur weight gain and health !
