Take your pulse for 10 seconds and multiply how many beats you counted by 6. Then check it against this website to see if you're in your target heart rate range.

take your pulse for 10 seconds and multiply it by 6

Normal Pulse is 60-90/min

Your target heart rate is around 70% of your max for endurance exercise/slow twitch exercise and 80% for high intensity exercise/quick twitch exercise.
To find max heart rate, you use this formula: 220-age. I am 23 so my max HR is (220-23)=197. Multiply that by .7 (70%) and I get 140 for cardio and multiply it by .8 (80%) and I get 160 bpm for high intensity training.

An important note, NEVER check your pulse on your neck. Even just 5 seconds of holding that artery causes you to kill brain cells. Always use your wrist to find your pulse rate.
