Calories or carbs??!
Question: i know carbs get a bad deal, and things like white bread e.t.c i always avoid. but surely it isnt JUST carbs i mean, if you ate solely carbs and little else, yet your calorie intake for all the carbs was still in a healthy range, you would put on weight would you?
are total calories the importance? as against low fat, low carb e.t.c?

Regardless of what you eat the total calorie content needs to be considered. You could live on no-fat, hi-fibre, low sugar foods but if the total calorie content is high you'll still not loose weight. Also when you eat and how much exercise you have all add to weight gain or loss. It's all about balancing input verses output. What you eat against the energy you expand.
Calories are sometimes called the energy content of food for this reason.
