How can I stop myself from snacking in the evening?!


Question: I dont really overeat during the day, im too busy, but in the evening I feel starving and want to eat loads, I really need to lose weight but dont seem to be able to get any willpower.I think I eat when Im upset and thinking about stuff too.Im going to a wedding in 8 weeks and dont want to look like an elephant please help!!!

Suck on sugar fee suckers when you feel like snacking. You can suck on them until the craving is gone. Also go out, or do exercise, I know that when you do exercise you don't feel the erg to snack.

    you should eat a big breakfast and chew well, because if you don't chew throughly, and you swallow, it can make you feel hungry even if you ate something very filling.

    drink a lot of water, chew gum so you cant eat

    drink water or tea, and apparently brushing your teeth when craving something sweet helps too

    I have the exact same problem. I usually can't fall asleep because I don't eat enough during the day, and thus have to eat loads at night. I usually will eat some fruit, because it has a bunch of fiber which fills you up. You could also try simply drinking water.

    Take a photo of yourself in underwear and stick it on the inside and outside of your snack cupboard. Always worked for me. Good Luck!

    You do not having to stop snacking. You should not eat past 6:00pm. Well not a full meal that is. As a snack, maybe fruit or a light yogurt.

    i do the same thing. and what i do to keep from snacking a lot is to plan my evening out precisely that way i'm busy and not thinking about food. or i drink water and that can fill you up if you drink enough.

    Drink water before you eat... It helps fill you up.

    Work out when you get a craving.

    Don't stop your sweets all together, just eat smaller amounts.

    Get a buddy.

    whaen ur hungry look at a swimsuit modle then go do some sit ups and if that doesnt help chew some gum that always helps me

    eat a healthy and slighty heavier lunch, then a light snack before dinner, go easy on dinner but make sure it is well rounded (enough veggies/carbs/protien) also, drink a full glass of water or nonfat milk before you eat dinner. if you still feel hungry, wait at least 30 min. to make sure it is really hunger.

    The worst thing that you can do is deprive yourself of snacks in the evening; this just makes you want to eat more.

    Instead of deprivations, try snacks that have a high water content. Foods such as fruits, carrot sticks, etc. are wonderful snacks. More importantly, these snacks are low in calories, full of water which is very healthy fo you, and they will make you feel full so that you eat less! Good luck!

    Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for a reason ! When you eat during the day, you eat less at night. Think, if you have a huge dinner at 10 pm, when you wake up at 7 am you will feel "bloated/fat" and not want to eat anything, however if you take that load at 7 am and eat something light at 10 pm, you'll burn off the food you ate, and not gain weight.

    Its better if you find a hobby that you can do during those late hours so that you do not focus on food. Drink lots of water and buy healthier food options at the grocery instead of junk.

    me too!!!!! I am trying to buy as many healthy snacks and have them ready-veggies cut and washed, grapes, apples, etc.

    Also, I think I just have to have a rule-no eating after a certain time....we eat late because of work, so 8pm should be my new rule.

    Do you exercize/? I need to do more and it may curb our appetites.

    Before eating think if you are really hungry. Would surfing the net, reading a book or better yet, going on a walk make you feel just as good? Maybe a big glass of water with lemon/lime would do the trick?

    I am also logging in a journal all I eat. Really eye opening. I try and look at food and ask-"what nutritional value does this have?". I was viewing some foods as "okay"-ie pretzels-since they aren't high in calories, but what value do they really have? Not much!

    drink lots of water.......a lot of people think they are hungry when rely they are rely thirsty. if you still feel hungry after drinking lots and lots of water try to snack on Cheerios.

    ice cube...it actually works...ur so into sucking it and melting it without letting drip that u forget that ur even hungry...also, just throw the junk food out, that way there's no temptation

    BOY! I have the same dilemma, I just cant fall a sleep on empty stomach. Its is very hard.

    put pink tape around your Fridge and food and eat Ice and water. If you cant do this because you live with someone, chew gum, watch a movie, read a book, take a shower, stay upstairs, or go on YA.

    Even though you are busy FOCUS major on eating small healthy meals throughout the day (like salads, fruits and vegies, lots of fiber based foods and protein) and drink lots of water and %100 juices. Packing healthy lunches from home is usually the healthiest. Maybe set an alarm on your phone or your watch throughout the day to remind you that you need to eat. This way, when you are home in the evening your body isn't reminding you that it is starving from you depriving it throughout the day.
    Try changing your dinner time an hour later, that way you don't feel as hungry later on in the evening and snack so close to bed time.
    Find ways to lower your stress (maybe meditate, get good night sleeping, plan ahead of schedual, ect.), a twenty minute walk a day works wonders - stress can cause rapid weight gain.
    Eating healthy, lowering your stress and regular exercise will find you losing weight and feeling better in many ways.
