Is it healthy to have yor 5 fruit a day in one smoothie?!


Question: I have a tendency to not bother eating my fruit and sticking about 8 or so portions in the blender with some milk and maybe a chololate bar or yogurt, whatever i can find. Is this just as healthy as eating? Also will it make a difference what time of the day I do this, say in the morning or before bed, is one healthier than the other?

It doesn't matter if you eat fruit whole or puree. (Just don't remove the skin!) Milk and yogurt are good for you, but can be high in fat. Make sure to be using non-fat yogurt and skim milk. Since sugar is high in calories, I recommend using clover honey as a sweetener.

Since smoothies can make you feel like you've just eaten a whole meal, they're great for in the morning. The natural sugars in the fruit provide energy to start your day. As for at night, it's easier to sleep when you've already digested your food. You would also be burning off all of the sugars and fats you've just consumed by walking around.

My easy recipe:
1 cup milk
1 cup yogurt
1 cup fruit
1 tablespoon of honey

If you like thicker smoothies, add more yogurt. Lighter, use more milk. Also, freeze your fruit for about 10 or so minutes to have a cold smoothie, instead of adding ice which waters it down.

no harm and it is just as healthy but may be a little easier with a busy schedule and easier to get all the fruit you need.
