Does it REALLY matter what time you stop eating each day?!

Question: I am working out and eating right, but my routine varies from day to day. Some days I stay later at the gym and don't get home until around 6:30 or 7:00. If I have to cook then it takes time to either thaw out the food or cook it at least. Most times I am done eating by 8:00 or 8:30 at the very latest. But there have been a few times where I ate after 9:00. Especially on the weekends if I go out to eat.

I am a night owl most of the time so I usually sit up for a few hours after I eat anyway. On occasion though, I'm so tired I go to sleep within an hour or two. Is this bad? I work out 5-6 days per week doing 1 hour of cardio each day, and a combination of circuit training and strength and aerobic classes.

they say not to eat late in the day because you are typically less active, therefore, burning less calories. if you are up several hours after you eat it shouldn't be a problem. really it matters how many calories you consume, not when you consume them.
