Does anyone know about any good diets :)?!

Question: I managed to lose 52lbs in just over 6 months. I have been on many diets. Yes, they worked whilst I was on them. But as soon as stopped all the weight came back on again, plus more. So I came to the conclusion that diets only work whilst you are on them.

So I decided to change my lifestyle. I embarked on a sensible eating plan and took regular exercise. The results were amazing. That was 14 months ago. I have today been able to maintain my weight with ease.

I kept all junk foods, ready made processed meals you buy in the supermarket, alcohol, and takeaway meals to an absolute minimum. These are high in refined sugar and full of saturated fat. They add pounds to the waistline.

I included more wholefoods into my diet. Such as brown bread, brown pasta, brown rice, beans & pulses. These are high in fibre and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.

I eat lean meats (nothing with any fat on), poultry (no skin on), fish (with scales on, not breadcrumbs), eggs, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, (including potatoes - keeping them plain and simple), non sugary cereals, skimmed milk and low fat dairy products.

Try to cut your portion sizes down, stop eating when you feel full.

I EXERCISE regularly. Moving as much as you can will help acelerate the weight loss. I joined a gym. Attended 4/5 times a week for 1 hour at a time. I now also run outside. I have entered myself into a 10k Charity Event too.

Try to stick to 80/20. Be really good for 80% of the time. The other 20% you can treat yourself. I do have a biscuit, a couple of glasses of wine, a bit of chocolate. But I have these in MODERATION. I know that this is the key to sustaining your weight. It works for me. I am sure it would work for you too.

May sound boring, but I lost nearly 3 stone in 6 months with Weightwatchers

Well if its weight that you are trying to lose you should just try to eat all around healthy stuff. And EXERCISE thats the biggest thing in staying in shape!! The Lean Cuisne Diet is good i hear from my friends

Sorry to tell you. There are no such things as good diets. To lose weight you don't need to diet. You need to change the way you eat and exercise, if you don't already. And the trick is to just watch your calories. You basically need to burn more calories than you eat. GOOD LUCK!

Go for a walk everynight

To a certain extent most dieting plans work where you cut calories consistently will result in weight loss. The biggest factor is if a person will or even can stick to the diet. I know people who have had success with Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Slim-Fast and South Beach; it just depends on which one would suit you best. Try looking @ E-Diets website they give a breakdown of 25 top diets. Personally, I have been reading Bob Greenes plan and I like it because I'm trying to lose weight for the long haul and have lost 30 pounds in the last 2 years only to gain it back. No more diets for me. It has to be a lifestyle or it won't last.

Yeah :D - Exercise and eating sensible!! Try it! ;-)

Best bet is to eat less and do additional exercise

The Rosemary Conley Diety & Fitness Club is the best.
You don't have to buy any special foods and it's the only one that actually does the excercise in class and not just tell you to do it. Aerobics and Salsacise. They are good fun and the people are really nice.

Jackie T 's answer is the best one I've read on diets. DIETS DO NOT WORK!!!!!!! Do as Jackie says and you will be slim for life. Cut your calories to far and your body will rebel and go into starvation mode. You can go on any healty eating wesite and they will tell you this. Avoid anything which says LOSE 21 POUND IN 21 DAYS - You will mess up your body. Sometimes the truth is not what we want to here. I know I don't. Good luck and I hope you win because fighting fat is so hard. XXXXXX
