Not losing weight, anyone had this happen?!

Question: I have been to the gym 6 days a week for 2 weeks, 30 min cardio and alternating weight training, I'm definitely getting my heart rate up, and I average about 1400 cal intake/day, and haven't lost a pound. i expected to lose at least 2 lbs, and maybe as much as 5. I am 12 weeks postpartum. Will I start losing weight if i keep this up, or do I need to do something else? Has anyone else had this experience?

You will probably lose weight if you keep this up. It is unusual that your weight is not dropping yet, but it's bound to do so if you stay motivated and keep working out.

Could it be that maybe there is a food in there that has more calories than you believe? I fell victim to that a few times (dammit, Jared).

Remember that when you weight train, you build muscle, and muscle is much more dense than fat. It's unlikely that you will gain so much muscle so quickly that you will negate the weight-loss effects of the cardio, but that coupled with another factor could explain the reason why it's not budging. Perhaps going harder on the cardio and backing off on the weight training (not cutting it out, but stepping down the intensity of the weight training in comparison to the cardio) until you reach a goal weight is in order?

Lastly, I'm not sure how tall you are or how much you weigh, but 1400 calories may be too little ( http://www.webmd.com/diet/guide/estimate... )for someone who is very active (the lifestyle you describe sounds very active). Your body may be going into fasting mode and is storing everything you eat as fat ( http://www.weightlosslib.com/2007/11/09/... ). If you become desperate, try upping to 1800 calories; you'll still lose 2 pounds a week at the rate you train.

Stay strong, stay motivated; the weight will come off eventually.

Don't eat much for breakfast and lunch >.> if anything. Maintain the exercise but early in the morning=faster metab. 1400 calories isn't rly that low no offense seriosly heh, try 1100.

dont eat or drink and continue your regular excercise... you should lose 20 pounds in maybe.... 5 minutes
