How do you motivate yourself to get to the gym?!

Question: I'm completely unmotivated to go to the gym right now. I've lost so much weight in the past 8 months without working out, that sometimes I just feel like I can sit here and do nothing and be fine (although I REALLY do want to tone my muscles). The gym is 30 minutes from my house and I have to bring my baby with me and put her into the gym daycare before I can work out. It's such a pain that it's enough to make me not want to go...plus I hate putting my baby in daycare. Anyone have suggestions for motivating yourself? What works for you?

Congrats! Well done.

Can you go to a closer gym? Can your husband go with you? How about a workout buddy? Sometimes a short stint with a trainer can do wonders. Some places have classes that include your baby,eg swimming classes, (somehow it is easier for us gals to do stuff for our families than for ourselves) How about a tea or coffee treat after the workout (Now, none of those high calorie things, just a really nice brew.

I am so proud of you for improving your health.

look at other chicks with a hot body
and tell yourself you want that
xP

I like to have a body that makes women want to touch it and men jealous they don't have it. That is the only motivation I need and it keeps me in the gym 6 days a week minimum. Seeing all the fat, lazy slobs walking around American streets these days makes it that much easier for me.

You want that nice body go work for it.Get off your butt and get it together.

why go to the gym , it is going to be nice out put that baby in a stroller and go for a nice long walk

Why do you need to go to the gym? It is important to get in shape, just being skinny is not attractive, but work out at home. Plenty of exercises you can do there and you don't have to pay a membership. Have some friends over and work out together.

I visualise my cellulite! well done you for your achievements so far. Sounds to me like you're a bit bored. Why not try a new exercise or go to class instead? You might be able to involve your baby eg do a swimming session with her.

The one thing that gets me through my gym session is good cheesy music - why not buy a new CD?

go for long walks with your baby try swimming riding your bike with a baby seat on the back but don't ride in the road like sum idiots do.

This story motivated me.

You'll feel more energetic, happier and calmer, says a study presented Thursday at an American Heart Association meeting in Colorado Springs.

Since the gym is that far away and you are tied down with a child, why not just work out at home instead?

There are plenty of exercises you can do in your own home! Lunges, crunches, dancing. And don't forget you can always borrow some workout DVDs or video tapes from the library.

Also, perhaps you could start setting money aside to save up to buy a treadmill or some other workout machine.

I take my clothes off and stand in front of the mirror naked.
That usually works

Write down the pros and cons. If it really isn't worth the effort then whats the point?
Otherwise arrange for your baby to be looked after by a friend before you go to the gym. That way you can go right there with no hassle and workout.
Loosing weight is good but you'll feel better in yourself and you will be healthier/fitter if you work out or do excercise.

I bought an expensive treadmill and I have a large music collection. I also have a medicine ball and some free weights.

My inspiration? My motivation? Although I would love to say myself.. my friends and family.. girls.. That simply isn't all together true. My true motivation comes from wanting a CHANGE in my life. I want to be healthier. I want to be fit. and it sometimes requires support from others.. I need others to tell me, you can do it! So I sometimes use Yahoo Answers to motivate me, as weird as it may sound.. go ahead, look at my profile.. look at some of the Questions I ask ;) it'll make you laugh.

There are so many work out cd's you can try. Also if you look on tv every morning I can find at least 4 or 5 1/2 hour shows of working out. You won't have to leave the house or put baby in day care. Kudos to you for losing weight at home. If you can do that you can tone up there also. Good luck.

I think you just have to get up and do it. You can't make excuses. Force yourself to do it and don't let anything stand in your way.

Combine you're trip to the gym with something else, like drop in on a friend on the way over, or do a spot of shopping. My gyms far from my house but close to work so I have to go straight after work otherwise I'll go home and not bother!

I know this is going to sound bad but it works for me.

I am extremely un-motivated, and hate working out however when I think of a lady taking my shirt off to find my toned body , you receive an "ooooo" followed by a sexy compliment, which for a guy is good, we're human so I'm sure theres no different between both genders.

I know it is a bit of a far fetched motive, but hey, whatever works right?
Oh by the way it does work, trust me. ;)

I have a friend that is "neurotic", or has OCD I love her if we say we are going to do something she will show up every time on time and drag me out. without her i wouldn't go like i should. Go to a help group for OCD and find a friend :)

I just tell myself how much better I'll feel after I go and I reward myself after. Once you go for while, you won't want to stop

1st, decide what days are right for you to go to the gym. 2nd, find a daycare for your baby that you trust on those days. Maybe do it with a friend, so your baby will have a playmate at the daycare. Then you and your friend go to the gym and work out, and you have time to go grocery shopping, do some work, and more because it is a DAY care!

Put on your bikini swimsuit and look full view in the mirror then ask yourself if you are satisfied with you look. If you are don't go. If not then go. Vanity or insanity?

if you have someone that could babysit for you, that would be better than daycare!
and then that could give you the freetime to walk or jog yourself to the gym to give yourself a start!

when i see commercials that shows my dream body it just gives me inspiration or if you see a picture in a magazine on how you want to look cut it out and carry it along with you. your dream body definitely wont just come to you, you have to work for it that should be enough motivation

let peace be your primary motive, what you are actually trying to achieve is secondary. without peace as your primary purpose everything you do will bring you pleasure that turns to pain.

If you're committed to a particular gym, look around your fellow gym users and see if there isn't someone else in the same situation (who you feel you can trust) and see if you can't agree on a babysitting sharing arrangement whereby each of you will keep the children while the other goes to the gym on particular days of the week, or try to develop a group of such people.

Also, if you will get some wrist and ankle weights that can be adjusted from, say, .5 lb or 1 lb. to 10 lb. each, you can get a workout that will tone your body if you wear the weights while you do your daily routine. And, while wearing them, go for long walks with your baby. If the weather's bad, take the child and do the "mall walk" routine: like the seniors, go to the mall and push that stroller as you briskly walk (not windowshop) around the mall for some set period of time (or distance on a pedometer). If you like music, get some of those Richard Simmons videos and do the dance routines while wearing the weights.

Or, get hubby involved in gym as a night out; then come home and follow it up with a "private workout." That should be good motivation.

I am a stay at home mom of 4 boys (2 are in school) and I work out at home. I take the kids for walks, I do squats, lunges, crunches, and whatever else I can do here without going to the gym. My motivation is with summer coming up soon I have my bathing suit hanging up and I try it on once a week and with each passing week it looks better and better on me.
Good luck!

People don't understand how difficult it is to get to the gym with little ones. Look online....there are tons of ideas of what to do at home to get in shape. :-)

i tell my self i want to look good. Its mind over matter. If i get up and go...I will GOOD afterwards. release of endorphins.
exercise gives me stamina, builds endurance, helps me body frame, spring timei s coming...i ant to look good..look good always....I tell me myself working is something i have to do like eat food. Its something my body just needs, and there are times i skip meals but i do my best not to. Going to the gym, is a change of enviroment...vs doing it home alone. Plays some good music on your drive there. You want to be a hot mama right...some scarifices have to be made. either change your schedule, get a temporary baby sitter. Its great you're trying to be toned...healthy lifestyle to workout.

stop eating and make your self go 3 time a week or more
also get some1 u know to go with you.

Stop chomping donuts and think that you are "depressed" and that everyone else in your life should shape up and trying to be pretty.
