Question: Gaining. I remember in the early 80s you'd see an obese person every so often. You see one in every restaurant these days. At least one. Portion sizes have always been higher than average in America, and they've gotten even bigger.
I think it will get even worse. I have no reason to believe it will get better.
Kids used to spend a lot of time running around outside. Now they're glued to their Nintendo DS's and munching on potato chips.
In Sweden, the most caloric item on the breakfast menu at McDonald's is a single egg on a piece of toast. They don't have the decadent McMuffins that you have in America, because in Sweden people don't consider decadence a proper breakfast.

gaining weight due to more additives and salts in easily available foods

I have worked in the fitness industry for seven years.I see more people actually trying to gain weight then trying to lose weight.

People are getting more obese - that's for sure, but if you over exercise fat turns to muscle and muscle weighs more than fat.

In developed countries, especially in Western countries, I believe they are gaining.

People are gainging weight no doubt. Kids sit on the computer instead of playing outside. Families eat more fast food because it's quick convinent and cheap. And people don't know how to read a food lable just because it says fat free doesn't mean it's good for you. I think society today is a fast pace society and people don't have the time they want to exercise or do anything.

gaining...its an obese epidemic..

gaining with all the junk food they consume

a bottle of coca cola contains 40tablespoons of sugar yes it cleans coins to like cillit bang so whats it doing to ones stomach?

Definitely gaining, it's due to all the fast food restaurants and stuff like that, Ready meals which are packed in salt, No good! People need to seriously start exercising also, Hardly anyone walks anywhere nowadays.

Losing weight, that is why everyone you see is so thin!

definitely gaining weight!!!!!!!!!

Gaining wait. people seem to be rushing around more these days and eating "on the run" rather than sitting down to a proper meal.
