Should I still WORKOUT??? I'm sore!?!


Question: just started back at the gym on wed. so far im just running and leg workouts and ab work... i've dont this wed and thurs.

im sore! not in pain...just sore~ so should i still go to the gym today and do what i've been doing? should i go and just tone it down?

i'll still def do abs!! but shuld i JUS do abs? or what??

yes def. go to the gym. u can rest ur muscles this weekend!! :)

drink some protein and then take a day off to let your muscles heal! for abs try, lay on your back, put your hand over your head on the floor you can even hold on to something heavy to keep you down and then lift your legs up and down it burns but it works really good!

Make sure you're stretching everything.

NO!!! If you stop now, then when you restart again your still going to be sore. The more you work out the less pain you'll go through.

You should definitely back off a little when you are still sore from a previous workout. This also provides an opportunity to mix up the exercises and keep things from getting boring. Maybe this would be a good time to do something totally different like an elliptical machine or stationary bike, or just spend 45 minutes doing stretches.

Ok, well, here's a few things I do before I go to the gym-
#1 make sure your eating healthy, that makes a difference trust me.
#2 make sure you stretch EVEYTHING...even if your not working out certain muscles and area's, stretch there anyways. This will prevent you from being really sore, but don't over do it, a stretch should be held from 8-30 seconds, depending on the position.
#3 do some warm up exercises, nothing super harsh, just a light jog, and or some VERY light weight lifting.
#4 NEVER push yourself farther than your goal. Take steps.
Say, you do 30 push ups today, try for 40 tomorrow, and 50 next time ect.
#5 make suree you do some sort of exercise for 30 minutes every other day when your not at the gym, to keep your muscles and body used to the activity.
#6 keep hydrated! lots of water! your body needs it!

Start and end with slow smooth stretches, and ALWAYS get your body warmed up before you start and cooled down after working out or you'll end up really sore. I've always been told to listen to my body, if it hurts, stop.

ya go ahead, i know it will hurt but it build endurence, ive been sore as HELL for the last three days a combination of gymnastics and martial arts luckily i have even been able to workout becuase i dislocated my toe and tore a mucle in my foot T_T so sad... ill be back on monday! but ive i did not hurt myself i'd been out there working with my soreness
