Whey vs creatine, which one is for me.?!

Question: alrighty, i dropped from 225 to 163 since my freshman year in highschool. (now im a senior)

i am curently enlisted in the marine corps and im trying to make sure i will have the strength i need for recruit training.

i dont really want to gain weight, i just want to be stronger, and faster.

my friend is a foot ball player and he recommended creatine because 'it gives you engergy to do more sets'

more sets=get stronger?

so i went out and bought some creatine; i have yet to use it. i am waiting till i can enroll in a gym.

should i use both? or will creatine alone do the trick.

remember im not trying to look like the hulk. lol

ps. i go to boot camp 08-11-2008

Well its not really a question of Vs. or what is better. Getting stronger has everything to do with how you train not so much in what you are taking. Now these supplements do aid in muscle growth and healing. A sensible whey protein supplement taken throughout the day and creatine taken before and/or after ( I dont know what brand you purchased) your workouts should be beneficial.
If you are joining the U.S. Marine Corps ( I am a former Marine myself) just concentrate on training. Concentrate on your run time, and your dead-hang pull-ups. Work on bulding your endurance...because when you get there (MCRD) this is whats going to matter. You wont have any of these supplements available and you will more than likely drop weight then gain the muscle back. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I hope this helps you. Thanks.

8-11-08 my son will be 9 i hope he is as brave as you to inlist !!! Good luck!! And no I wouldnt use ANY additive while your home........you wwont be using it in boot camp and then wouldnt you hate to all of a sudden lose all your built up muscle mass and have saggy arms when you return......the physical size of your muscles does NOT determine strength by any means...

Well man, your muscles are made of protein, when you work out your muscles tear taking protein supplements help them repair quicker...creatine basically just hydrates your muscles so much they look bigger until you stop taking it,then they return to normal size. Its a lot more complicated than that but that is pretty much what youre looking at. Id say find a low fat low calorie protein supplement and lift lots of light weight for your muscular endurance and strength,on your off days do sprints to get quicker. Remember that these things dont happen overnight my brother.--- My husband wrote that.---

WOW, 225 to 163!! that is impressive in itself! Well Done, Sir.

My opinion for your review. I use both. I like creatine. It hydrates your muscles and makes you look very full. It also does set your cells up to be ready when you call on them in the gym. The protein is just good for you. Your body needs it, especially if you are hitting the gym really hard. I would not worry about becoming the hulk. That does not happen quickly, nor by accident. That takes years and years of dedication.

As with all things, don't over do it. Use them both as suggested. Work hard, rest well. repeat. Good things will happen. Congratulations on your achievements so far. And best wishes for your military service. I hope you enjoy it and come home safely. You have all of my respect.

Regards.
