Does working out at a younger (14) age stunt your growth?!

Question: i dont want to start working out and be short when im older

Answers: i dont want to start working out and be short when im older

myth.

If working out involves eating better then you are and ensuring you have enough food and all your vitamins you might just end up taller then if you were to be deficient in some thing like calcium. People are getting progressively taller with better nutrition although they are getting fatter these days also...

Learn proper technique and you will be just fine (avoid injuries and don't over train), in fact you will be better then fine you will be better then ever!

Go for it.

no that is not true at all. in fact if you work out now and eat healthy you will lower ur risk of diseases that you can get when you are older, like heart diseases.

it can according to my nephews hockey trainer. he was discouragerd from it until he reached adult theight 5'8" then he started pumping iron. apparently it shrtens the tendons or something of that nature

go with lots of cardio for now and for your muscles swimming stretches those muscles out as much as possible while keeping lean

I've never heard of something like that. No, working out, at any age, is always healthy.

I think that that could only happen if you really overdid it.

Ok mate my dad's a doctor and he's told me all about this particular subject.
I'm 16, 1m 80, and quite thin...so i thought about going to the gym too..but my dad simply wouldn't have it. He gave me this long speech about how putting any type of weight on your bones and muscles at this particular ( essential ) part of my growth COULD be harmful, depending on how much i actually work out.
So, as long as you stick to those simple exercises, i think you'll be ok. However, since you're 14, i would stick to pushups and such: I've been doing them for quite a while now, and believe me, they work extremely well, and you can do them in the comfort of your own home!!!

Anyway, it's your choice. Don't take my word for it; search medical sites if you want. Bone elongation, bone development is essential at this age ( we grow till 21 but it is during this time that we grow ' the most'.)

Good luck, hope it helped

yes. anything before 16 is very unhealthy for growth.
