It depends on what your goals are. If you're simply looking to improve your overall health then a simple cardio regimen with strength training about 3 times a week should be sufficient. The length of the workouts depend again on your current health status. 30-45 min of cardio of your choice, that would keep your heart rate and 30 min at the Gym is a good way to start. A healthy diet is also needed for overall health.

Cardio is a must. Add something else, such as strength or flexability.

Running is the best. If you run and want to get better at it jumprope and do ab workouts. Another bonus is nice abs.

An aerobics dvd is great cause it gives you a range of movement from cardio to toning and if you pick a good one you won't get bored. I like the ministry of sound pump it up series cause they're fun (I hate aerobics yet I love this one).
