Working out and 1200 calories but weight barely budging!?!! BAHHH!?!

Question: I've been doing about an hour of intense cardio (Turbo Jam) and about 45 min of conditioning (weights for upper body, Ballet for lower body and an ab routine) a day, plus have trimmed cals down to 1200. Have been at it for 4 weeks, have lost about half a pound. So frustrated. Any tips?

okay this is where it gets very detailed. How are you spreading out your 1200 calories? What do your 1200 calories consist of? Do you do the intense cardio and the weight training on the same day(s)? How old are you and how much do you weigh? How much rest are you getting inbetween workouts? How often do you workout?

I know it sounds kind of complicated, however, you'd more than likely need to answer these questions for yourself first. At first glance of your description, your arent taking in enough calories to facilitate that much cardio and weight training all in the same day, everyday. I would suggest upping your caloric intake and spreading it out as equal as you could get it throughout the day, ESPECIALLY if you are doing what you say you are. An hour of intense cardio burns 600-1000 calories and then if your other training sessions are intense as well then your are looking at about another 350-500 calories. If you add up the numbers, you arent taking in enough. So in effect you may be forcing your body to store more than you are burning.
I hope this helps you out. Thanks

Whoaa thats quite a lot of exercise.
You didn't say you height or weight, so maybe you are already fairly thin and don't have much body fat to lose.
You could actually be gaining muscle weight too by some of the exercise you are doing (ballet and ab routine) so don't worry about your actual weight because you could still be thinner.
To lose body fat try jogging, early morning before breakfast is a good time to exercise as it kick starts your metabolism
good luck! x

id say, you weight lifting is building muscle and muscle weighs more that fat take a week where you cut that out i would bet you see #'s drop!!!

There Is Alot Of Great Diet Tips. yes, eat more. your body is in famine mode.

Check your diet. Eat smaller meals 5 times a day. Don't eat junk or lot of carbs. Stick to Protein like lean meat and fish. Include lots of veges and fruits. Weight loss is based 60% on diet and 40% on exercise.

Also if you have been the same weight for a long time, your body tries and fights the change (homeostasis). Once it's too much for the body to fight the change, you will lose weight quickly in a short period, so keep going with your exercises.

Keep at it!
Some people's metabolisms do not adjust quickly. I know mine doesn't. When I diet I have to wait at least two weeks before I start seeing even the tiniest bit of results. Keep working at it. Make sure to re-evaluate your diet. You may have cut your calories down, but what exactly are you eating? Lots of fruits and veggies? Lots of water? If you are still eating a lot of carbs or a lot of fats (particularly trans fats or saturated fats)---remember that monosaturated and polysaturated fats are the good fats!

You may need to adjust your diet. Perhaps bring your calories down to 1,000 per day instead of 1,200. I know it doesn't seem like that big of a difference, but it will.

Good luck!

May I suggest you continue...with emphasis on consuming 8 oz four times a day of water. Eat balanced meals with attention to essential vitamins and minerals.

Next, feed you mind on things that are uplifting, honorable, loving, peaceful. Reach out to others in loving service.

God bless.
