Calories burn by walking?!

Question: I am 19 years old and 123lb. I am eating about 1200 to 1300 calories a day and i walk about 4 miles a day, this is brisk walking.

I have a blanced diet, which is low in fat, I have lost about 3lb in 8 days that i have been changing my diet and doing excerise. Is this a good excercise, eating plan?

any advice would be aprechiated, thanks

I'm 15 years old and followed through with the same eating/exercise plan last summer, except I lost a little less than you each week.

First of all, it's not necesarily "healthy" (this is coming from a holistically inspired raw vegan) because the majority of your nutrition may be expelled or not absorbed. You need to make sure that you get at least two tablespoons of unsaturated fats, such as Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil each day if you are excercising this much; To put this simply, oils help distribute the nutrients in foods more effeciently.

On top of that, if the nutrients are not distributed correctly, it could be muscle mass you are losing. (But it may be unnoticable because muscle, of course, weighs more than fat.)

I would reccomend increasing your caloric intake to at least 1800, and adding more lean protiens and "good" fats. It shouldn't be too difficult, but in the end I was unsuccessful. =[ More meats, nuts, seeds, and oils have many nutritionally dense calories.

If not, this weight loss could continue and weaken the muscles (i.e. your heart) and put more strain on your body. In time, if your body isn't absorbing the proper amount of nutrients, you could go into starvation mode. 0_o

That's when your body uses the stored nutrients from your mucles, (smooth, cardiac, and skeletal), therefore depriving the body even more, and you become tired more often. This has happened to me, and then my body naturally gained weight back and I can't shake it off.

Hi. Yes and no.

Yes, because I am a firm believer that whatever you do, no matter how small or big, to achieve your goals and dreams is good enough.

No because there are a lot of improvements you can make to the plan you described.

Losing 3 lb in 8 days is a fine and healthy speed. If you keep this up there is a lot of benefit for yourself.

So, to conclude, if you are OK with your plan and you can stick with it, then do so, because as long as you are moving closer to your goal nothing else matters.
