Why do people say that if your ribs show you are unhealthy?!

Question: My ribs AND spine show and I am very healthy and eat all the time. I even tend to overeat. I think this theory of theres is insane. Where did they get this idea? Is there some article claming this or are they just all ignorant?

Could be jealousy?!? I have what is referred to as "floating rib cage" but I haven't seen or felt it in years....and now I have metabolic syndrome...I am the perfect "apple shape", no ribs visible and a large apple at that! I am mad at myself at times because I have not taken good care of myself in the past few years due to stress etc and now my health suffers greatly. As long as you are healthy and feel good, count your ribs, enjoy life and ignore ignorant naysayers.

Its not ignorant..Its actually true..There is a huge difference between a person being thin..from a person looking sick..

To me..it looks unhealthy. I don't think its really unhealthy to have like..the bottom ribs showing. I personally think that people should have muscle in order to be really healthy. When people have more muscle..they're ribs don't tend to show. There's a difference between being thin and being healthy. Some girls think that just because they are 105lbs that they are healthy. To me..they have no muscle and are really weak and can get injured doing normal stuff. It's just gross to me. But if a person is actually healthy..eats a normal diet and has muscle and still has her ribs show..then I just think that person is naturally thin.

you are probably just one of those blessed with a fast metabolism. don't listen to people that say you're unhealthy. if you eat well and you feel good that's all that matters.

it's probably something that people just say. they picked it up from someone and it's imprinted in their mind to be right. i don't think a doctor or dietician would ever say that.
in some cases it could be unhealthy but not all.

People who say that don't know any better and are just used to their own body and their own metabolism. I shrug them off, they don't know squat!
