What Causes Nausea?!

Question: Sometimes even though I've eat right, and I am hydrated I feel nauseous when doing extreme amount of cardio. I don't see why this is a bad thing? Aside from the fact I'm nauseous if I don't puke then what's wrong with it?

The nausea you're feeling can be a result of two things. The first, and most common is a build up of lactic acid in your body. When you're working at a high level of intensity, you're body produces lactic acid faster than it can clear it out. This excess acid in your blood decreases your blood pH, resulting in feeling light headed and nauseous. It often doesn't result in vomiting, and can be relieved by decreasing the intensity, which is why a cool down is very important.
The second possible reason for feeling nauseous is that the blood flow is diverted from your digestive system to your working muscles, and if you have food in your stomach it can become unsettled. This is due to the fact that its just sitting there, not being digested, and it is being shaken around by the impact from your cardio. This is very dependent on the individual and how tolerant your system is to doing exercise with various amounts of food in your stomach.
Generally, nausea is a combination of these two things, with the lactic acid usually having more of an effect unless you're exercising immediately after eating.

Its probably a flu coming on, or...food poisening? I don't know, but it happens to me everytime I drink SODA! If you feel like your gonna throw up, just drink a tiny bit of water,but...do not drink it to fast. Just take small sips at a time. That helps me a lot, and I lay down.
