Will anorexia recovery make me gain weight?!

Question: so i've been anorexic for about two years... and in that prosess i lost about fifty pounds. i'm being sent to a recovery hospital. but i'm scared i'm going to gain all that weight back. i'm only 5'1" and before i lost the fifty pounds i was considered obese. my weight is now considered healthy for my height. so my question is can i still stay this same size but be healthy again?

You haven't mentioned your weight and I think, perhaps, you considered yourself to be obese but were not. Please, don't be concerned about gaining "all" that weight back - your, overall, health is more important right now. The difficulty with anorexia and bulemia is that you "see" a different image, in the mirror, than others see. For your height, the least you should weigh is "around" 98 lbs. if you are small-boned - wrist measurement 5-1/2 to 6"). Body measurements are a good way to determine what category you belong in: overweight, average, thin or too thin. If you measure less than 32, 23, 34 you would be considered too thin. The height and weight chart (first link), "says" all 5 of the women is my family are 5-7 lbs. underweight but none of us are - we just happen to be small-boned. It's important you reach a compromise with yourself regarding what is a healthy weight.
I hope you will have a counselor whose opinions and guidance you respect and will come to, fully, realize you are on a deadly path. The hospital nutritionist will help you learn about food groups in your diet. I've, never, met an overweight vegetarian (and I'm not one) but this, perhaps, may be the type of healthy diet you would do best on. Once you are in an average weight range (a realistic weight) you may want to sign up with a gym just to do some body-toning exercises. There's nothing wrong with being body-conscious but you need to have a healthy mindset in this regard and, most seriously, you need to think "outside the box" which is "you" and consider the feelings of your family and friends - your counselor will help you.
I do hope you will soon be on the road to recovery. Please take care of yourself and, perhaps, post another question a few weeks after you come home -> Anorexic is home - please advise? <-- to let us know how you're doing.

you will probably gain some of the weight back but you can easily loose it by eating right, excersing regularly, and eating full well balanced meals.

sometimes anorexics still manage to lose weight at those clinics, they often die sometime after, so not all people gain weight at them and if you do gain it would be towards a healthy weight not a fat weight, so if you lost 50 lbs. you probably won't gain all of those back

anyone who is ednos or anorexic is free to email me if you wish to have an email friend

I had a friend that went through the same thing. She just ate healthily and didn't gain the weight back. I think a girl is much more attractive if she looks healthy and not too skinny.

I don't know how much you weigh now, but around 110-115 would be good. If you eat healthy and do light exercise, you will be fine.

you will gain but probably not all of it.
what you have done to yourself is horrible, and i know exactly what you mean.. i am a recovering bulimic/anorectic. i have found now that i follow a meal plan and eat more heathily.. the amount of cals i am supposed to eat i have gained approx. 25-30 pounds, but only because being bulimic also makes you gain weight..
constantly bingeing and purging.

the fact that i don't obsessively work out anymore has severely ruined my metabolism too.. but i'm getting there.

trust me, recovery is much better than ending up dead because of this disease.
good luck sweetheart <3

do you starve yourself? because if that is the case, then you will have to watch what you eat and have a balanced diet as well as work out on a regular basis. You will not gain all the weight back if you talk to your doctor and establish a healthy plan that is right for you and your eating habits.

First of all, the whole "my weight is healthy for my height" system is incorrect. BMIs blow. Many people who are short, muscular, and healthy are considered obese, and many tall unhealthy people are considered normal. Don't trust this system!
It is possible that you'll gain back the weight, but hopefully in the process of recovery you'll learn proper eating habits, so you won't gain back an unhealthy amount.

The facility will teach you how to have a healthy diet. You may gain some weight, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think you have to worry about gaining all that weight back. The hospital will help you with everything. The important thing is to get healthy mentally first. I don't think anyone on here can take away your worries. Good luck. I am glad you are getting help.

well im sure the recovery hospital wont make you fat/obese again just to help you get into the healthy weight you should be in like maybe 110-115 and after you get out well stay in a healthy diet and go excersise so you burn the calories and maybe you'll get tones and be like super HOT!!!!

I'm trying to lose weight too and it's sooo hard. My aunt is using a weight loss product and it's really working for her (100% natural). I'm gonna try it and I recommend you try it too. It's really a colon cleanse, and it's a healthy way to detox, not like most diet pills. Check their website at
http://www.thin-diet.us , my aunt got a free trial and paid only $4.95 shipping and handling.
