Female, 5'5" and weigh about 172. need help.?!


Question: Hi. I'm female, 5'5" and weigh about 172.
I would really like to lose the weight.
I am planning on swimming because it's one of the activites I like to do. Would it help me lose weight fast? and I am also planning on running almost everyday. The thing is, I heard that if you run a lot your legs are going to get big (actually my friend's result was that). I already have HUGE legs and I really want to have pretty legs. Will running help me have pretty legs faster???
I can control my diet I just want to lose my weight fast. Please help with details .

I am 36 and weighed 365 pounds. I excercised and felt determined. Positive attitude is your main focus. You cannot cheat. Heres what I did:

No breads at all for 6 weeks
No sodas of any kind
No Sugars as well not even diets sugars
No Sweets
Your probably saying I cant do this......but it really works. I did it for 6 weeks and now I am 275.
When you excercise with this I usually do more cardio and lighter weights with more repititions. You legs will not get fat on the treadmill, but if your worried about that just do 3-6 miles on the stationary bike every day if you can. Its easy on your bones!!! You will shred your weight. I was a popaholic most my life but when I cut that out I finally got used to it. No drinks that end with aide either. Just water. I know its hard but I swear to you it works. If you can just train your mind and really focus I know you could do it. Go swim!! Go to the gym. Grab your Ipod and fill it with all your favorites. Take your own pace and then challenge yourself at the Gym!!! It really works I swear. Good luck and plz and let me know how it turned out!!

Having muscular legs is better than fat legs. Also don't say you're going to run everyday if you're not. I know a lot of people say that they will exercise everyday, but it's not that simple. You will need lots of determination and confidence to do so.

I've almost got the same problem
I'm 5'5'' too but I way 155
Running shouldn't make your legs bigger, it should just tone them
perhaps your friend's leg fat turned into muscle
if you want to avoid that you have to tone too
Wall sits, lunges, crunches help with toning thighs and butts

To loose weight, you have to find an activity you like, because you will actually want to excersice . You've already found one, and a great one too. Her legs got huge because it was muscle. This is half uneducated but it sounds like running will first burn fat and then make muscle.
