Help before Spring Break...?!

Question: So I'm 5'4" and 135lbs. But I'm an athlete so alot of that is muscle, I'm not fat. However, I have this annoying little layer of extra stuff right above my hips. I have pretty good abs, but they are covered by like 2cm of this extra fat. I run when I can and have 2 hour soccer practice twice a week...in addition to 90 minute games on the weekends. How can I get rid of this extra fat, perferably soon(spring break is in 3 weeks)? (I'm not geneticaly blessed when it comes to body size unfortunatley)

First off I would analyze your diet...how many calories are you taking in everyday? In what form? At what times? In general, it's a good idea to spread your meals out through the day...around 5 or 6 light meals. This will keep your metabolism stable and working throughout the day, which will help if you want to lose weight. Of course, it will depend on WHAT you eat, too. Sugars, manufactured meals (like frozen dinners, etc), high glycemic carbs (like white bread), and anything with high fructose corn syrup in it, is BAD (though, high glycemic carbs are good after a workout...hence why timing is important). Stick to natural, vitamin-rich fruits and veggies, whole grain products, and natural meats/dairy for protein. And definitely stay hydrated with lots of H20

Anyways, it seems that you have the exercise part covered with your soccer practice, so I would say diet would be the major thing to concentrate on. That, and of course get a good night's rest! Good luck.

eating celery and cucumbers are great snacks! esp. since they r empty calories so actually loosing them by chewing. on top of that eat generally heathy foods, you r doing great with the excercise, but you need to balance both. also try doing crunches preferably 250 a day and spread them out i.e. 30 at a time. ENJOY!

you sound like me! im 5'6' though. but yeah i'm trying to lose a few pounds too, and i have soccer twice a week and tennis every day. what i'm doing is aiming to eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day. so far in 3 weeks i have lost about 4 pounds.
don't limit yourself to just "diet foods" or else you will be more tempted to binge and eat lots of junk food.
drink lots of water-if you think youre hungry you might just be thirsty.
also try some of the things on this:
