If you want to get a defined midsection, you'll have to get your body fat down to 13% or less, and that takes diet and exercise. Abdominal exercises are good for shaping and toning your abs, but they burn very few calories.

The "easiest" way to get abs without going to the gym is a three-pronged approach:

(1) WALKING -- It burns fat almost exclusively, it burns almost as many calories per hour as jogging without the pounding on your joints, and you can walk as much as you want without burning muscle. If you want that washboard midsection, you'll need to walk at a brisk pace for at least one hour every day.

(2) DIET -- It'll make you or break you. All the exercise in the world won't get you there if your diet is not in order.

Avoid these as much as possible:

-- Trans fat (any type of partially or fully hydrogenated oil)
-- High fructose corn syrup (soft drinks are LOADED with it)
-- Fast food
-- Junk food
-- White sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes
-- The deadly C
