Make sure you are not placing your hand behind your neck...that is common and is NOT a correct way to do crunches. That makes your hands push on your neck for support.

Place your hands across your chest when doing the crunches, so that only your abs are working.

By doing them right. Don't use your neck at all...go to 8 mins on youtube.. you'll see what I mean.

Look up at the ceiling and force yourself to focus on that spot. Do not take your eyes off it. When you raise yourself into the crunch position your body should move but your head doesn't move with it. Hard to explain. Just give it a go. Make sure the tips of your fingers are just barely touching behind your ears just at the back of your head. I used to get alot of pain but now i do it this way and i don't any more! :)

You need to keep your head always facing forward. Some people, in trying to reach "full crunch", bend their neck to reach their chin to their chest. That is wrong.

Keep your neck out of this exercise, before you herniate a disk there.

your gettin old....what do you do w/ your hands when you do crunches, try to put you hands behind your neck , that might help it with like support or something..if all else fails see a doctor..i dont really know what that kind would be like named....mabee like a nectologist..yeah that works..look them up in the yellow book

You need to make sure your neck is in a neutral position. Most people tend to strain their necks as they sit up because it makes them feel as if they sat up farther. This is more of a reflex than a conscious thing, but you can control it. I suggest picking a spot on the ceiling and focusing on it. This will help you keep your neck stationary while your upper body is moving. You should have a gap about as big as your fist between your chin and neck. This is the proper position for your neck so that you aren't putting any strain on it. T

his should help, but your neck might also just be slightly weak and you'll need to build up the strength to hold your head in a horizontal position, because it is normally in a vertical position. Until then, mix up your crunches with some machines that support your head.

Since I started to work out I was looking for a good weight loss product (I only wanted something 100% natural). I was on a diet but I felt that I needed a little "help" so I decided to try this great detoxification colon cleanse and I had fantastic results. You can check their website at
