Power Bars and Protein Shakes Help?!


Question: I'm starting to do paramilitary workouts twice a week because I'm going to the police academy in April.
I want to start helping my body with protein shakes and power bars but I don't know when to do it!
Do you eat the bars before or after the workout? Same with the shakes, before working out? or when you get home.
What is the best way of using this to help me get in shape faster?

think of protein as a building block. eat a energy bar a hour or 2 before your workout if you can but save the protein for later. eat protein bars or drink milk or protein shakes after your workout because your body has to work harder to digest it. when you sleep, that is when the protein really gets sucked in, so you can have a shake alittle before you go to sleep also. about a half hour before bed works well for me. good luck with the academy!

Protein shakes and bars are usually used as meal replacements, best for people eating 5-6 small meals a day instead of the typical 2-3. ok so you want to eat 30min-1hour. before your workout
then you NEED to eat within 30min. after your workout.
