Question: Ok,so I'm not going on a diet,I'm skinny, but I want to be healthy and stay that way. I love things like chocolate, ice cream, cookies, ect. I'm not a pop drinker. I basically want to know how to stay away from sweets, and motivation to exercise more often. Also if you could offer some yummy alternitives that'd be great. Thanks for your help!:]

delicious fruits that taste like candy:
-purple/red grapes
-blueberries (especially good for you)
-pinapple
-peaches
-oranges.. yumm
-starwberries.. yum!

other snack healthy choices:
-slice of deli meat
-special k cereal
-granola bars
-yogurt
-gold fish?
-idea: you can eat some unhealthy food.. just make sure you eat the recommended serving size

good ideas:
-have whoever buys the groceries get a kind of ice cream you don't like too much.. which will make you not want to eat it
-buy 100 calorie packs of cookies.. their good and stay within good bounaries
-as for chocolate.. eat DARK chocolate.. it has something in it thats good for you.. and if it has almonds in it.. it makes it even better
-don't skip breakfast!
-try to remember before you binge/over indulge/eat the things that you shouldn't what your goals are and why you shouldn't eat them.. you can convince yourself of almost anything
-keep the foods you don't want to be eating out of the house.. easiest way.
-chew gum, or brush your teeth after every meal to avoid snacking afterwards.. b/c no one want to spit out new gum or eat after they just brushed

and after about 3 weeks of resisting the food you will find it easier to say no to them, but eating them for special occassions is okay!

Just don't eat unhealthy food. It's that simple.

eat healthy food lol

eat vegetables, fruits you get the vitamines from those food. eat chicken breast, eggs, brown rice, you fet the proteines from those food.
drink milk

One of the easiest steps I found to take when I lost 80 pounds in high school was to not eat after 7 p.m. Ever. No matter what the circumstances. This gives your body the appropriate time to fast before breakfast.

And just look at labels. Don't set an unrealistic goal for yourself as far as calories or fat grams, just count them and know what is going in your body, but don't get paranoid and obsessive about it. Really just look at the labels and eat at the same time every day.

fruits are sweet/yummy. also, u can eat junk foods u like as long as u watch the calories. i say that because for example...a snicker bar is like 600 Cal, whereas a whole can of pringles is 150Cal.
motivation=look at fat ppl
lol "pop"...dont hear that here in the east:P

So, as a nutrition major, this is fun.

For exercise, make a goal! You could train for a half marathon, or a 10K or a 5K. Halhigdon.com has schedule training. Yoga is also an amazing exercise that builds in body, mind, soul, and balance.

Instead of eating the junk food your eating, you don't have to get rid of it. But instead of Oreos or ChipsAhoy, attempt to find organic, all natural substitutes. Oats are such good snack sweets. Many health food stores have flavored oats that are very healthy for you and are just fun to eat. Also, if you like fruit, make a smoothie. You can use frozen fruits, bottled 100% juices (don't buy the stuff with the ridiculous amounts of sugar, the fruit contains enough sugar on its own) or milk, and ice, and that is a great snack.

I hope this helps. Peace.

limit your sweets and replace it with fruit and fruit drinks :P
try shopping at places like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's for very delicious, and hearty food

First thing to know is that there is a difference between eating healthy and eating low calorie.
You can eat a fabulous salad with cheese and croutons and dressing - those last three items add to the calorie count, and can add quite a bit.
That being said - I'm a firm believer that if your doctor hasn't told you to watch certain types of foods, then there is no reason to go without. Eat what you want, just eat less of those things that are higher in calories.
Weight Management is all about calories in (food) vs calories out (physical activity). A good resource:
www.mypyramid.gov
A great magazine - Muscle and Fitness Hers
Motivation to exercise more? The more you do the more you FEEL like doing - because you see how great it makes you feel. I reward my treadmill time with reading a great book (for some people, it takes time to build up to reading a book while you walk the treadmill - start by looking at pictures in a magazine, move up to reading the article titles, then move on to reading the articles themselves).
Yummy alternatives - My favorite tip - 'whipped' options are great; it's the same thing as the regular one, just whipped up so that it takes up moer space (thusly, one cup of ice cream has less calories in the whipped version, then the regular).
Muscle and Fitness Hers has some great recipes and suggestions - and you'll get some great insite on the MyPyramid.gov website.
Good luck!

Eat healthy food, but don't completely give up your favorite foods, like chocolate and ice cream.
This is what I do:
I am skinny too. I usually eat lots of fruit [Peaches and plums... Yum!] and vegetables, sometimes cheese & crackers for a snack. [& other things, but that's my favorite.] then randomly, when I want something sweet, I get an ice cream or something. Then later I would go outside and practice my gymnastics or play a sport with my friend. [ DDR, usually. not a sport, but still, exercise. ]

--Hope this helps. ;)

there is a cookbook called eating for life that is full of fabulous- meaning ive tried most of them recipes that are lean versions of everyday breakfasts lunches dinners and desserts- 1 example protein pancakes :

2 cups steel cut oats
6 egg whites
2 whole eggs
16oz lowfat cottage cheese
1 Tbsp vanilla flavor
1/4 cup organic sugar or other sweetener (blue agave or stevia from the health food store is fabulous)
1 tsp. cinnamon

i blend all these ingredients in the blender(put oats in LAST)a to make a batter and sometimes i even add a scoop of protein powder and pour out your cakes onto the griddle and have some pancakes for breakfast with no guilt- these actually taste better than biscuity pancakes and you dont feel all heavy when youre done eating these you feel full of energy because you got good carbs from the oats and great protein from the eggs and cottage cheese. you should buy this cook book its great!

eating sweets is not unhealthy, it is just the source of sugar so never stop eating sweets, but take them through its raw sources; honey bee, dates, fruits
Also I heard taking bread, and some natural carbohydrates that turn into sugars inside your body will help you avoid unhealthy sources of sweets
I am a Muslim, and I can tell you some beautiful tips of our Prophet diet
To keep healthy
Wake up early at dawn, take your breakfast; 1 teaspoon of honey bee stirred in a glass of warm water
After about 2 hrs take 7dates soaked in a glass of cow milk; we believe it protects body against poisons
At about midday, take a fruit
When the sun is at its peak, take your lunch;
Daily meals at lunch
A red carrot
1 parsley
1 celery
1 shabat(an Arabic word , didn't know the translation, but it looks some how like parsley but its leaves look as if they are fine green hairs)
1 big spoon of olive oil +2 drops of apple vinegar a piece of barley bread =half of your hand
The main meal must be mainly whole grains like lentil
Other recommended meals for lunch
Liver+apple vinegar and kosbara (also I don't know the English name)
Eggs; very helpful if you feel weak
rice+meat; it is considered very healthy, but still our diet is mainly whole grains, and meat is not taken for more than 3 successive days, but still you cant avoid meat for more than 40 days, this may cause you bad temper
Also considered very healthy is
Onions
Garlic
A very beautiful meal is lentil soup made of:
Lentil+garlic+onion+carrot and cucumber
We are told not to mix meals, at least take a break of 2 hrs to take you dinner (last meal)
sour milk(I don't know if the translation is right, but it is made of a mix of 1cup of yogurt +a liter of milk and left for about a day for fermentation)+a piece of barley bread of about half of your hand
Or you may take
Fig which is very healthy
Or some pomegranate
You may consider them a too many meals, but it was discovered that eating snacks like this will increase the rate of metabolism
Also eating at the same time ever day increases metabolism
And the most beautiful is following the sun cycle, gives you the highs metabolism, which not only causes you to be slim, but also gives you the whole benefits of your meals
