I had to stop 'sweet & low' immediately because of its side effects?!

Question: Now for years in a row I had used it constantly in my teas and coffees instead of sugar, it's hard for me to stop drinking those.
I am already gaining weight fast because of using cane sugar and honey instead :(
Any suggestions for a safe low cal sweetener?
Any other suggestions . . . ???

I have found that in my case there isn't a safe low cal sweetener for me as they all give me migraines. Try slowly weening yourself off the added sugar instead. Add a little less each time and you may get used to the unsweetened tea and coffee.

Splenda is the newest artificial sweetener, and Aspartame (aka Equal, Nutrasweet) is an older one. Both are "better" than Sweet N Low (saccharin), but none of them are really "good". Aspartame allegedly increases your risk for certain types of cancer and Splenda in high doses is a neurotoxin.

The problem many people face when switching to regular sugars is that they try to get their foods as sweet as with artificial sweeteners. This is wrong, as artificial sweeteners can be many times more sweet than regular sugar. If you're gaining weight, it's likely because your using too much sugar. Don't use more than a teaspoon to sweeten your food (unless of course you're cooking something and the recipe requires a certain amount).

Splenda is supposed to be derived from actual sugar. The best thing is to try to retrain your taste buds to eating less sweet things. The more you practice using less and less sugar the more you will become accustomed to it.
