How do you stop uncontrolled eating?!

Question: I'm trying to lose weight.. but I can't stop snacking. I know that's where the major weight comes from- the mini meals in between the meals. I cannot lock my cabinets and fridge, so don't suggest that. What can I do so I don't eat out of boredom instead of hunger?

oh right there with ya!
Get some really strong mint flavored gum I suggest winterfresh and when you're gonna eat stick a piece in your mouth. the flavor is satisfying and it actually burns calories to chew gum. and the bonus is the flavor lasts a LONG time so if you think you'd want to eat something you'd have the minty flavor in your mouth for so long you wouldn't want to eat!

i would love to know

try hydrocodone

play a video game... eat sunflower seeds... check sugarless gum.... masterbate

It's really hard but it's all about self-control. Mind over matter. Keep yourself busy and drink lots of water.

stop buying junk food try to eat vegetables more often, start exercising there are so many options

same problem here

I'd love to know to. BUT... when you feel the urge to eat, (if you've already eaten recently) try drinking a glass of water and see if that helps.

The root of the eating is not hunger, it is boredome and loneliness. Sadness and anger. Work on those. Counselling can help.

you are probably nervous about something i used to have that but my doctor gave me some pills so i wont be as much hungry

Find something else to do with your hands.

Eat a lot if that is what you do now but eat healthy things. There is nothing wrong with eating a lot.

I was going through the same thing. I just took old pictures of me from when I was thinner (and happier) and put them up on my refrigerator and cabinets. The little reminder that I could be like that again was enough for me to not snack. If you don't have photos or yourself, use some of people you admire.

i have the same problem.... but I know you are supposed to eat 6 small meals a day to be healthy. If you do this then you're pretty much eating all day so that's a good thing. Good for your metabolism etc. I just haven't taken that advice... but I plan on starting to drink green tea whenever I'm feeling the urge just to eat out of boredom. It's soooooooo good for you. Try the kind with lemon, tastes much better. Make that your new habit.

Usually 'hunger' is actually boredom, comfort eating and thirst. Try drinking water, if your still hungry afterwards then snack on vegetables.
I used to have your problem so i cut up some apples pears oranges and melons, put grapes n strawberrys n stuff in it , like a fruit salad n had it readily prepared, that way when you 'cant be botherd' to make sumthing properly you have fruit ready there to snack on. Eat fruit and vegetables if you must snack.
Dont snack on biscuits , cake or crisps.
Dont fall yourself into believing that if you eat 'crisps' now, youll miss breakfast tomorrow, IT NEVER WORKS.
Dont do the IL START THE DIET AGAIN TOMORROW. that NEVER works either.
You couuld try the old pictures of what you dont want to look like on the fridge, throw away foods you dont want to eat, if you live with family, put them away from your food.
When your bored dont look in the fridge and dont make yourself you think you want to eat.
Drink lots of water, snack on vegetables, have smaller meals.
Find a new hobby, walk the dog, walk the cat, whatever.

Make all your meals mini meals. Know how many calories is in what you are eating.

I eat 5 or 6 times a day no more than 200 to 300 calories per meal. This was hard at first because I like a big dinner. I just remind myself that I can eat again in a couple of hours. Your body wants a little bump every couple of hours, that's one reason you can't stop snacking.

Since you are snacking

out of habit try 100 Calorie Packs so that you know what you're consuming in calories. You could eat 2 or 3 per snack and then eat three meals that consist of 2 or 3 ounces of lean meats and vegetables.

One slice of domino's extravaganza can have over 400 calories. A value meal at McDonalds usually has 1000 calories. These are not good meals because that's too many calories at once and they are not filling.

A good mini meal is one of Subway's 6 inch subs with 6 grams of fat. You could eat four those a day and have 1200 calories.

For about 340 calories at McDonalds you can get a 4 piece chicken nugget happy meal with caramel apple dippers and an apple juice box.

Typical meals aren't real meals anymore. They are feasts and when we overeat every day it's hard to slow down. So stick with the whole snack mentality but don't eat the feasts. Some pasta dinners at Macaroni Grill are over 1800 calories and of course you're going to have bread and maybe calories in your drinks and possibly dessert. That's more calories than you need for one day.

I miss having extra value meals and eating half a pizza or more but I don't miss the 80 pounds I've lost since I stopped eating more than 300 calories per meal. I also enjoy the fact that I can jog 10 miles a day. The past 2 years have been great for me since I accepted the facts that you need to count calories and you can't eat big meals every day.

Each of us faces many environmental or emotional triggers every day, but most occur unnoticed. One of the best ways to become aware of your personal food triggers is to keep a food diary. Pick a day or several days and record what and when you eat as well as what else you are doing and feeling when you eat. Design your food diary to examine what you consider to be triggers. Here are some sample questions, solutions, causes of triggers and more information:
