How long until I can see results walking on a treadmill?!

Question: I had a baby three and a half months ago. I am 5ft8in and I weigh 156lbs. My goal is to weigh 115-120lbs. I have been walking on my treadmill at about 3.0mph on a full incline for 30 minutes everyday. So my question is how long before I can see results and how long till I start losing weight?

i think you are doing great for a mother
you could try to speed it up and get results quicker
depending on the small data that was given i would say about 1-2 months
you might want to eat less and more healthy food
good luck
your doing great

156 to 115-120 is a bad goal. 115-120 is probably below what your genetics want your weight at and can be unhealthy.

But you should really try jogging instead.... get a good sweat going. A healthy diet is also important to go along with it... eat less of the bad stuff and more of the good stuff.

You need to pick up the pace. You won't loose weight only going 3.0 mph. Your building muscle though especially on the full incline but first you need to shed the pounds before you focus on building muscle. Start speed walking on flat surface then pick it up to a jog and try going for longer than 30 minutes.

you have to cut down your calorie intake too.. if you burn 500 calories on the treadmill, but you eat 500 too many calories, you won't see any weight loss..

There are so many variables here, are you actually breaking a sweat when you are walking? Is your heart rate increasing? What type of diet are you eating? For your height 115-120lbs is underweight and not healthy. You should really be shooting for a goal no less than 130lbs. Although typically once you start working out you should start seeing subtle results in about two weeks, these will not be drastic by all means, just little things like your clothes fitting better etc.

Try to vary your workouts also. Your body will get used to the walking and you'll level off and stop losing weight. Vary the speed and incline or mix it up with a stationary bike or elliptical machine.

Also, adding weight training 2-3 days per week will really boost your metabolism and help you lose weight.

If you have a healthy diet/exercise program, you should lose about 1 lb. per week.

I had a really hard time using a treadmill. I got Dance Dance Revolution and a Playstation 2 and I've had better results. Walking in a straight line is not as effective as the step patterns in DDR. As you get into advanced steps you begin twisting and squatting as you move and using your arms for balance. All this spends more calories than just walking.

I can now jog 10 miles a day and I do this every day because of DDR. I go at a fast pace. I had a treadmill for a number of years and I was never able to walk past 4 miles an hour. DDR gets you in shape much faster.

I treadmill still works, you will probably burn around 100 calories a mile if you can work up to a faster speed. Try lowering your incline until you are stronger and your speed is faster, but by all means raise it as you get used to it. Incline is more intense and that will help burn sugars in your system, but duration will help you burn more fat, so stay on longer and practice walking faster.
