Losing weight the "right way," when is it going to happen?!

Question: I gained abbout 25 pounds since the fall and I'm tryin to take it off by eating 2,000 calories/day of healthy foods and excersizing my butt off. i'm 5'6, medium bone frame, and I think I have more muscule mass than your average girl, because I can build it easily. I do yoga, weight lifting, running, and I play rugby so 3 times a week I'm burning around 1000 calories doing that. I have one day a wek where I do nothing to rest, otherwise I do at least something. This has been going on for 3 weeks.
Before when I would lose weight I would cut out a lot of calories and lose it right away. However since I'm trying to build lean muscle, things are going at a snail pace. I can tell though that I'm geting some small results, in general I fel tighter and my pants fit differently, and I think my stomach is slightly flatter.
However doesn't the fat just drop off really fast at one point? Or is it just gradual? At this pace, how long till I lose that 25 lbs of fat?

Thanks.

Here's the thing. If you are doing a great deal of weight training you may not see a number drop. I know that is is difficult to accept. However, know that with all the exercising you are doing - you definately are going to see a more defined and healthy you. Try not to focus so much on the number. Focus on you fitting well into those jeans of yours.
Weight when lost the healthy way never drops off. A healthy weight loss would be about 3lbs per week. Any more than that is too extreme for one's body.

Also, the more muscle helps burn fat. So keep up the weight training. Try to cut on carbs and up the protein. You will be just fine.

Numbers do not equal sexy. Healthy equals sexy! =)
good luck

Most people lose 1-2 pounds a week, sometimes less, sometimes more.

What foods are supplying your 2000 calories? Cut back on carbs, increase protein. Watch fat intake. Try to keep it under 12-15g/day. The extra weight will come off.

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so you are losing fat, it's just not showing up yet. I think you are doing fine. If you are still concerned, you could go to an 1800 calorie option for your activity level and be fine. Especially on your days where you are not as active. I use www.sparkpeople.com to gauge my progress. I found it to be a great FREE resource. I like that it lets me choose what I want to eat, do, and record without restrictions. And there aren't any ulterior motives. They aren't trying to sell me anything, or get me to join some weekly meeting. Just info and support my way, on my schedule.

Sounds like you're on the right track. You may want to cut the calorie intake to 1500 and that may help with another 1/2lb loss extra a week. Slow is a good thing. 1lb a week is all anyone can hope for. I'm not a dieter but I have started exercising some and I'm losing 10lbs a year, which is great for someone who likes to eat!! Keep up the good work.
