Six pack..?!

Question: Well, i obviously wouldn't mind having a six pack like most. But whats the most effective way to gain one? I'm 16 years old, and just started going to the gym 2-4 times a week.

How can i get one,.. without paying for those stupid 'Get a 6 abs in 6 days'.... thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am no physical traiiner, but I am a serving soldier in the British Army and have a few tips to help you. As has been mentioned previously, no matter how fit you are, the only way to get a six pack is to remove the layer of fat covering your abs, so in other words you need to get your body fat percentage down to 12%, ideally 10%. However, dont follow what other people have said and restrict your food intake as that will only prepare you to fail. It is important that you eat properly and if you do need to lose fat, then maybe reduce your caloric intake a little, so, if you are burning 2500 calories/day, only eat 2300.

Im a firm believer in running as a great way of getting a six-pack, it certainly worked for me. I would recommend doing 45 minutes of weights in the gym doing press-ups, sit-ups and general exercises and then hit the road and do high-intensity exericse for a short period. Fartlek training is what you want to be doing.

The reason why I say this is because this type of exercise will not only burn calories, but it will increase your metabolism massively so whilst you are sitting down watching TV afterwards you are still working towards your goal!

Most importantly, dont be impatient. Depending on your current fitness level, getting a six-pack can take quite a while, so take it steady and warm your body into the exercise and as you get fitter, you can start to up the intensity. Most importantly though, as has already been mentioned, dont do hundreds of sit-ups thinking that you will magically get a six-pack because it wont happen. That is a very ineffective way of achieving a six-pack.

I wish you all the best and its a fantastic feeling once you make it, a six-pack is definately something to be proud of.

To show off your abs, you need to burn off the layer of fat that is covering them. To do this you need to go on a calorie restricted diet and do a lot of exercise including cardio and sit ups. The layer of fat will not go away by simply doing sit ups and crunches. If you already have a low body fat percentage than doing situps and crunches will help you. Don't go crazy with them. A lot of people go to the gym and fo hundreds of situps and crunches every day. They treat their abs differently from every other muscle in the body. Treat them the same as you would any other muscle and you will see improvements.

this guy gives you a free workout routine that's pretty easy to follow with video instruction. worked wonders for me.

I have a trainer and there is many abe work outs you can do 1 is called rope grabs you go into a sit up position and you do it like a situp but try to touch the ceiling with your hands ( even thoe that isnt possible ) and keep rotating hands

Well, you have to be pretty skinny to get a six pack. Crunches or sit-ups might help, or just plain working out. Any type of working out can contribute to the abs, I think.

its all about fat around your gut, you need to have a low body fat ratio to show off your abs. But, exersize helps aswell, doing situps etc will make your abs stronger and bigger, making them show through quicker... its alot of work, but worth it in the end...

Eat a mega healthy diet, drink only water,do as much cardio as you cn and once your under 10% body fat, tons of crunchs.

I cant be bothered to do any of it anymore lol! but i know first hand it works, but you have to think of it in 2 ways.

on one hand you'll get more sex, because thats all girls care about.

on the other, you'll ruin fun things for yourself, like having a beer, eating what you like, having lazy days etc

well heres one thing when i was little i LOVE tarzan omg i thought he was so cool, i thought he was so cool i started to walk like an ape (being crouched down walking all 4's) i did this 90% the time i was home then a couple months later i had an 8 pack so that was my way. but as i got older i did it less and i am 14 now i have 6-8 pack you can really see lower to but if u feel u can tell and i don't work out so if i was you i would try some way to insert crunches in your normal like standing then curl into a ball roll around and get up and do that to get around the house

The first answer here was spot on and i agree totally with everything he said. You should train your abs smartly with adequate rest, but also realise that a visible six pack is only possible through a low enough bodyfat percentage.
