I am 25 stone woman who is desperate to lose weight but can't. Any help?!

Question: I have lost so much weight in the past. I've put it all back on. I just don't want to do it at the moment. How can I get myselt motivated? I live in the UK and have tried the DR route but there is no help for people like me in this country. I do want to do it I just can't seem to find the reason why? Does that sound crazy?

You don't sound crazy. My goodness you need to do something because you are at risk of so many things. Start slowly. Do the things advised on the site. Try and see that what you are doing to yourself is dangerous - not being able to live a full and happy life - by the sounds of it you are feeling fed up and unable to cope with this stress you have put upon yourself. You can do it you just need to try and don't give up if you have one bad day. Eat better and move more. It sounds so simple when written here but it can be done. Good luck and go for it!!! XXX

well the best reason to lose weight is to live better and longer.

have you ever watched the show "You are what you eat?" maybe watch that show and that might motivate you to NOt eat all the junk food you are eating right now. 25 stone...my gosh that is quite some weight!!! Do you want to die???? Are you depressed?
Get going girl...life is so good and if you eat healthier you will loose the pounds....

Honestly, when I was heavy, I walked a lot, drank a lot of water, and really watched what I ate.

What I did was get a simple marble notebook. On one page, I'd write what I ate that day (EVERYTHING - DONT CHEAT!) and then I'd write what I did to get myself active.

I found myself eating less and more healthy (because I was ashamed to look down at that paper and say "ew.. I ate a whole box of cookies? God... ) and I kept myself more active...

you can do it if you really try!

I own a health and nutriton business and have taught fitness. I also dropped 12 dress sizes in 1997 in preparation for a beauty pageant - and have kept it off.
There are things you can do to lose weight and feel better. First of all DON'T STARVE YOURSELF!!! Many people think this is a good way to lose weight. It isn't. Severe dieting only slows metabolism, which causes the body to retain weight and put it back on faster. On top of that, the brain needs glucose to operate properly, and if you starve yourself, you will end up with foggy thinking, hormonal and chemical imbalances and impaired judgment, which will affect your performance in school or work.
So here's what you do: Eat a good hearty breakfast, a decent lunch and a light dinner. Keep your meals high in protein and high in fruits, veggies, whole grains and fiber, and low in fat. White bread is your enemy. ALL soda pop, including diet pop, is your enemy. Fats, such as french fries, onion rings, fried chicken and other fried fast food is your enemy, as are most dressings. Candy is your enemy. Ice cream is your enemy. Want a yummy way to stop appetite? Try orange juice with breakfast in the morning, and with lunch. Even more yummy is a mug of orange juice heated in the microwave with a mass of cinnamon instead of a snack. It stops appetite, gives energy, and helps metabolism.
Make sure you are taking a good quality supplement with food - never on an empty stomach - and see if you can't find sublingual b-12 to take. Sublingual means "under the tongue" and delivers to your bloodstream direcly - and b-12 is called both the "energy vitamin" and the "stress vitamin" because of it's help in handling stress. You should look to take around 5000 mcg per day.
You can raise your metabolism and energy level through exercise - properly. The key is to get your heart rate to within 80% of maximum for at least 30 minutes three or more times per week to lose weight. This can be accomplished through running, spinning, bicycling, stair stepping, or other cardio, but will be essential to a good weight control program. You don't start out that way, or you'll feel like you're dying. You work up to it. Start with 5 minutes, three to four days a week, and add a couple of minutes each week until you can do 30 or more minutes.
Don't go by weight, as, when you exercise, muscle weighs more than fat (and burns more calories than fat). Instead, measure yourself all around and go by inches lost.
One other thing: You need to drink lots and lots of water. The guideline here is to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day. That means that if you weigh 360, then you need to drink at least 180 ounces - or 9 twenty ounce bottles - of water each day. This will cause your body to wash out toxins that may be causing you to retain weight, wash out excess fats, and help to allay appetite. Often, we find ourselves going to the refrigerator to pick out something to eat, when, in truth, our body needs drink instead. And yes, that sounds like you'll be drinking water all the time - constantly - at first. I'm aware of that. But still, choose water first, then orange juice instead of snacking.
As far as your why, do it because you love life, want to be healthy and want to enjoy life, health, avoid sickness, and enjoy your grandchildren. Those are the best motivations of all.

The only way to take off weight and keep it off is a change of lifestyles. Dieting doesn't work. It's only a temporary fix that when you stop dieting your weight climbs back up to your previous level or higher.

You MUST:
1. Eat to live, not live to eat. Cut your portions down to a minimum.
2. Eat better, less fat and starches and more fruits and vegetables. A trained dietitian would be helpful.
3. Drink lots of water. Helps process food and waste.
4. Exercise regularly. Weight training will sculpt your body and aerobic exercise will burn calories and fat.
5. Use your family physician to help you plan a program based on your age and general health. This is the most important step of the 5 I'm giving you.

If you take these 5 steps I'll guarantee that IF you're healthy to begin with you will drop weight REGARDLESS of your metabolism.

My father lost more then 30 pounds doing this and he's in his late 80's and in great health so you can do this as well. Good luck.

Edit: A caveat about exercise. In the beginning go easy on the exercise avoiding any high impact so to protect your joint and muscles. Remember, it took years to get where you are so be patient and time will be your ally and not your enemy.

Eat small dinners... use willpower and you will get used to it.
