Question: I know i'm not obese but i want a healthier lifestyle...do you have some suggestions? I'm a chocolate addict and I really do eat alot of bread and starchy things...but i want to be healthier and skinnier for the summer but i dont want to starve myself because i get dizzy. i'm 5'3 and used to weigh 128, but i lost 5 lbs in two weeks. your height/weigh ratio ...or BMI... is pretty healthy, but anyways... losing 5 lbs should take you about two weeks. if you plan to keep off the weight, make exercise fun-- get into more sports, etc. maybe walk as transportation, rather than getting places by car/whatever you use. also, eat chocolate/starches only occasionally. besides, the less you eat them, the better they taste when you eat them because you've avoided it for a bit. stick to fruits/vegetables, and possibly yogurt in the mornings. it helps regulate your digestive system, and for me it kicks off cravings for bread/carbs/etc. maybe you dont have to eat less food but replace them with fruits/vegetables or crackers with some fat-free cheese. remember, if you want to lose weight you have to USE MORE calories than you EAT. :] hope this help you out a bit~

If you do light exercise, 45 minutes every day should be more than enough. You should look up how many calories it takes every day to maintain your current weight (see my source link), and then reduce that by 200-600 calories until you've lost the weight (it might only take a few weeks). Alternatively, calculate how many calories you need to maintain your current weight with however active your lifestyle without the added exercise, and then calculate (with my second source link) the exercise needed to burn 200-600 calories each day. Since it's only 5 pounds, once you lose it there shouldn't be much difference required in your diet to keep it off, but you should look up again how many calories to eat each day to maintain that weight. This time, don't reduce the number by anything.

The key to keeping it off is eating your daily limit of calories; less is fine, if you're truly not hungry, but don't make a habit of going over. The occasional splurge is also fine, but if you know you're going to be having chocolate cake for dessert, try having something low-calorie, like vegetables, for dinner. Planning those unhealthy indulgences ahead, and making up for it by eating extra-healthy both earlier and later in the day/week, can make all the difference (just as long as you don't over-do it; like you said, you don't want to starve yourself).

at 5ft6in the 133 lb. is not a bad weight at all if you loose 5 lb. you will probably start to look like you are sick. My suggestion in place of trying to loose wt. would be get into an exercise program. tighten up your muscles this will make you look trimer and believe it you will feel so much better. You do however need to get you a healthy eating habit formed because as you age and the weight gets on it will be harder to maintain. I do water exercise so easy but does so much good. I love swiming now that I've learned. This was one of the last things I learned to do with my husbands encouragement before I lost him. But I know he is still encourageing me as I do exercise and swim. He was always so good and my encourager. Sure miss him but then I just listen closely and I can almost hear his voice saying you can do it. After saying all this which I know you didn't care to hear I wanted to say exercise. You will be happier. Don't starve yourself. If you go around hungry you will be grumpy and noone will want to be around you.
