I want to lose 40 pounds fast and healthy?!

Question: I am 23. I am 5'9 and i weigh 193. I used to weigh 150 and that's the weight i want to get to nothing lower because my friends and family thought i was getting to skinny, but i lived a very active life then and i was 18 years old. I have truely let myself go. I never ate fast food or sweets really and never had an appetite till i met my husband. I really want to get back to being healthy and sexy for him. I heard something about an all green diet, but does that actually work? What are the best diets that anyone has went on that worked. Also my husband and i got bikes and we will ride about 10 miles is that good exercise?? Thanks it's so depressing and I want to be happy with myself again. Thank

avoid fads, and it isn't going to happen terribly fast either.

Your best bet is to do a variety of exercise (to build and tone muscle that constantly consumes energy), don't worry you wont get bulky its nearly impossible for women (without illegal drugs).

Avoid processed sugars, corn syrup, white flour, and go for the fruits veggies, and a reasonable amount of complex carbohydrates (whole grains).

Drink plenty of water. Be committed to feeling, and being healthier and work at it in a reasonable (lifelong) pace.

NOTE: avoid running until you have shed a significant amount of fat. That extra weight will do terrible damage to your back, knees etc.. Swimming is excellent, biking, some strength training, walking, oh and don't forget those fun outdoor activities that help you get your blood moving.

More than all of this, go do research and ask for advice from professionals because your body is unique and managing your weight will require your own unique balance of diet and exercise etc...

WARNING: don't go cutting your food intake to only 500 calories a day. You'll only lose healthy muscle (that eats fat/energy) and the weight will probably come back as all fat fast.

Exercise!!! Always work!!

Count those calories! Shoot for a reasonable goal like 1200 to 1500 in a day. More if you're active, less if you're not. Drink lots of water, switch to diet sodas or crystal light, and eat your veggies.

I watched on Oprah the other day that a group of people at ONLY fruits, veggies, and nuts for 10 days. The people lost about 10 pounds. I have yet to try this, but I'm sure It works.

Lay off the sweets, eat healthier foods, and EXERCISE!
Even if it's 10 minutes a day EXERCISE.

Good luck.
