Who follows a healthy diet? TIPS PLEASE!?!


Question: As I am drinking Mountain Dew and eating chocolate cake, I am thinking of the monks, and of other people (farmers, fisherman, Amish, "plain people"), who live their lives simple. These people are so healthy, happy, satisfied with life, live until old age...and etc etc etc...

What kind of diet do they follow?

Water, tea, no sugar, fresh fruit and veggies....??

What are the necessities for human survival (food wise)?

I heard that fasting once a month is supposedly good for your body.

PS: IF THERE ARE YOUNG READERS HERE, KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU NEED EXTRA CALORIES, PROTEINS, ETC AS YOU ARE GROWING, SO A SIMPLE DIET IS NOT FOR YOU.

fasting twice a year is better. i fast once a year for yom kippur (im jewish) but it is good for u. a simple diet id very efficiant though, but dont feel guilty, sodas and chocolate cake r ok, as long as u eat them in moderation. i heard somewhere that one ounce of chocolate a day is good for ur heart. so is one glass of red wine (i dont bc im 2 young 2 drink, lol)

One thing that was missing from the diet is all the crap we eat. Like high fructose corn syrup in place of sugar and pretty much anything man-made that's not really food. So just switching to all natural foods with only real ingredients will help a lot.
