Could I lose 60lbs in 5 months?!

Question: I know the whole 10lb a month thing but really.. if i spend a LOT of time in the gym and eat all organic fruits and vegtables with meat mixed in every now and then and indulge in one sweet a week couldn't this be possible? I have a plan and I want to do it the "healthy" way. My dad has lost 50 lbs in 3 months and is working on his last 20 right now. I weigh about 170 so I DESPERATELY need this. If I put all I have got into this is this possible? I have seen miracles and will give it all I've got.. any tips excercises or food advice would be helpful.. Thanks for your time (-:

Yes you can and it seems as though you have a good plan and a great attitude which is great.
Do not skimp on the protien, you need it but just stick to how much you need, everyone needs .8-1.0grams of protien per kilogram of body weight. To figure this out find your weight in Kg(divide your body weight by 2.2, 150lbs/2.2=68kg, then multiply .8 by 68=54.4, so a person who weighs 150 pounds needs at least 54 grams of protien a day). One ounce of meat has 7 grams of protien, one ounce of milk has 1 gram, so you see it will add up quickly and you wont seem to be eating too much.
As far as organic fruits and vegetables go, the only difference between organic and regular is the fertilizer and pesticides used, there is NO increase in nutritional value so you do not have to spend alot of money to eat healthy.
Keep your carbs low but not too low especially if you are exercising, just keep your portion sizes down, weigh and measure until you can eyeball it, a 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes is a serving size, same goes for pasta, rice is 1/3 cup cooked.
Do not eat unless you are hungry( do not eat by following a clock, eat by following your stomach when your body needs food it will let you know other wise your body will use very little and store most of it as body fat), always eat when you are hungry starving yourself will not help.
Lift weights as well as do cardio, building muscle increases your metobolic rate, for 1 pound of fat just to sit on your body only requires 5 calories to maintain itself, for 1 pound of muscle just to sit on your body without even moving requires 45 calories to maintain itself, so having high muscle mass you use more calories than storing it as fat.
I hope this was helpful and makes sense to you, good luck

THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL LOSE 60 LBS. IN FIVE MONTHS IS IF YOU HAVE YOUR *** AMPUTATED.

def. havent u seen biggest loser? they all lose like 5 pounds in one week. seventeen magazine has pages in their magazine about ways to exercise and work out everypart of you body, it has a schedule for your exercise and it shows you healthy ways of eating and subtuting unhealthy foods for similar tasting, healthy ones.

good luck!

If your dad did it then maybe he is the one that can give you the best advice, but the bigger problem is how to keep it off.
Slower is better. If you get sick and tired of what you are doing and give up and go back to your old habits, it will all have been for naught.

If you lose 60 lbs you will be 110 lbs. That's really skinny, maybe to skinny. And I say this a lot but it's not about weight. It's about BMI and body fat percentage.

Can you lose 60 lbs in 5 months?

4.3 weeks per month
5 months
21.5 weeks

That's 2.79 pounds per week. I think that at 1st you will do great and hit that 2.79 lbs per week if you do all that you said...

but you will hit a plateau. Not sure when, but it will happen mainly because it will be hard to keep losing that amount of weight once you don't have that much weight to lose.

It's possible, but hardly "healthy."

For one thing, to get rapid weight loss on that schedule, you have to get a lot of weight off while you are a fairly overweight person. Exercise at that level is hard on your heart while you are carrying a lot of extra weight, and possibly, also, on your joints and back. You're also much more liable to muscle and tendon injury when you are starting an exercise program at elevated weight, when your muscle tone and overall strength are suspect.

So, "slow and steady" is good advice for starting such a program. Necessarily, your early results may be gradual, but if you avoid injury, and keep at it, you will be better off in the long run. Therefore, a 5 pound/month goal might be much more realistic, and also give your body time to allow your skin to shrink as your contours do, too.

No good losing 60 pounds, lickety split, if your skin is visibly saggy as a result! Take your time, do it right, change your life permanently for one of active, enjoyable moderation in eating, and consistent weight control. It is much harder to do this as an older person.
