Question: can a person drink in a day without suffering from lack of electrolites and minerals? I heard if you drink too much you could lose too much potasium and have some kind of heart problems.

just drink as much as required. When you're thirsty drink!
(or if it's a hot day, or you're doing lot's of exercise, drink periodically, to stay hydrated and healthy)

If you drink too much water, your body cells (ex heart cells) absorb as much water as they can, but all too often, they absorb so much water that they burst, also known as water intoxication. But yes, this also causes their to not be enough nutrients in your body etc.

A person who is not engaging in strenuous exercise cannot drink too much water without feeling really sick. If you drink so much water that you start to feel sick, then you should stop. It's really not something you need to worry about. If you ARE exercising strenuously, then just be sure to eat some food or drink something other than water once in a while.
