If I do 500 situps a day, how long do you think it will take to get a six pack?!

Question: I'm almost 16, 5ft 10, and about 135 ibs. and I eat a decently balanced diet. Ive been doing 500 situps a day for 5 or 6 days now, and i havent really seen any results. How long do you think it will take and is there anything else i can do?

Protein is the foundational nutritional supplement to creating muscle. Without protein, you cannot create muscle. You need an average of 1.3g protein x weight (in KG). For example if you are 80kg, then you need 1.3 x 80 = 104g of protein. Make sure not to take TOO much protein because this can cause harm to your kidneys over a prolonged period of time (1-2 years of taking in excess protein). To figure out your weight in kg from lbs, divide your lbs by 2.2

What makes 6 pack abs? Increased abdominal muscle and decrease of body fat percentage. This requires two important things: Intensity workouts with the abdominal muscles and eating a BALANCED diet (which means NOT starving yourself and portioning a 35% protein / 45% carbs / 20% healthy fats).

Intensity workouts with the abdominal muscles: Doing sit ups and press ups is fine. But doing them over and over again isn't going to gain you muscle mass. Why? Because of something called muscle memory and muscle tendency. These two things make it so that the more of the same exercises you do, the less effective they will be in gaining muscle mass. Change it up, do differing abdominal workouts and use WEIGHTS to increase the intensity of the workout.

BALANCED diet: If you are seriously looking to get 6 pack abs, you need to balance out your diet and make sure you're getting balanced, nutritional meals for the ENTIRE day. It's great that you're eating breakfast because that is the most important meal. Skipping lunch probably isn't the most ideal thing to do. Pizza, is fine, but it does contain a lot of grease and (bad) oily fats that would just prolong the process of decreasing your body fat percentage.

It would also be critical to do cardio workouts. HIIT (intervals involving 3/4 lap sprint, 1/4 lap jog, 3/4 lap sprint, 1/4 lap jog, etc.) intervals are VERY effective at decreasing body fat percentage especially in the "core" abdominal area.

Good luck! Work hard and you will see great results. Work mediocre and you will see mediocre results.

Just a note -- 135lbs at 5'10" is considered underweight. You need to gain muscle mass on all parts of your body: obliques, arms, lats, lower back, legs, etc. "You can't fire a cannon from a canoe." Do you want to be seen on the beach as some scrawny kid with abs, or as a ripped dude with abs? :)

patience, young grasshopper, patience...

That's shitloads of situps how long does that take you. There are other exercises you can do as well. If you are eating well that's the best start. Try some weightwork as well and maybe even some swimming or running.

The normal answer is, "Depends on how much fat you have," but at 5'10 and 135, you have zero fat. I would say that you probably need to GAIN some weight, cause cripes, that can't look good. Stop thinking so much about a six pack and work on shaping your whole body. I mean, come on--can you picture some scrawny guy, no arms, no legs, but a six pack? Ridiculous.

you will see a six pack in a few weeks if you are doing it properly, though everyone has a six pack, the fat is just covering it. so you can get a six pack by doing cardio and loosing some weight off your stomach. it would be less painful and much more quicker :)

Situps alone will not get you there. You must diversify. Try watching some FITTV. Lots of ideas are available to you on this channel.

It seems to me that you have a lot of time on your hands for 500 situps. Have you thought of getting a job to go along with that? One that might also involve some physical fitness and help you in accomplishing you goal.

All the best!

Crunches > situps

Quality > quantity.

Muscles can't repair and rebuild if you don't give them rest. So 500 situps 5 days straight won't help you much. Try only 3 days a week.

Noticeable results may occur in 3 months, not 5 days.

Doing complete body exercises will help.

It takes about 6 weeks for you to start noticing but around 12 for others to see a change. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off.

My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product (all natural) which I think helps a lot in the process (it's really good for detox, you'll feel much healthier). I recommend you check this website
