How many calories in 16oz of veg soup?!

Question: Hi all,

My grandmother has made some gorgeous home made vegetable soup, which I can't get enough of.

I was just wondering how many calories would be in 16oz of it - it contains all kinds of veg, bit of butter/oil, stock, etc. I've put it in to several 16oz containers for friends and family, some of which are a bit finicky about what they eat.

Do we have any cooking experts out there who'll know?

Thanks,

Matt

I think with that you would have to add up the calories in the different ingredients before it gets added to the pot. Example: Three cups of broccoli would be about 90 calories; Three cups of carrots, 95; The carton of vegetable stock, etc.

My husband makes a yummy semi-homemade veggie soup. (He starts with a couple of cans of Progresso low sodium, a carton of vegetable stock, and then adds frozen veggies.) It's just good.

I can understand wanting calories and the like. Personally, I would want to know if any meat was in it. (I always ask at restaurants.)

On the other hand, as has been said, just enjoy your grandmother's cooking while she is still able to do so. My grandmother has dementia and is unable to cook any more. Sure, she's alive, but sometimes, for all intents and purposes, she may as well not be. I just pray she realizes she's meeting her great grand-daughter on Monday. (My mom told her about my daughter and the next day asked about her. That was very good for my grandmother. So I guess on some level she knows.)

I digress.

look on the side of the can...or ask ur gran (or wot eva u call her).....dont start gettin paroind by calories

Matt why dont you just enjoy your Gran's food. It sounds good.

Since I started to work out I was looking for a good weight loss product (I only wanted something 100% natural). I was on a diet but I felt that I needed a little "help" so I decided to try this great detoxification colon cleanse and I had fantastic results. You can check their website at

it depends what's gone in it
it sounds very nice
