My dad put my Pull Up bar a little high?!

Question: I'm close to 67-68 (5'8") inches. My bar is 82 inches high (7'10"). So I have to jump a bit to get onto the pull up bar. I have this leg sofa thing in my room (I took it from my parents, because they got a new couch and they were throwing out the old one) so should I put under the pull up bar when I start out? Is it necessary?

You don't want a pull-up bar to be reachable while you're just standing - you want to have to jump a little so that you can hang from it without having to bend your knees.

If you're having a hard time doing real pull ups then you can just do flexed arm hangs until you're stronger.

Nah, just jump up to get it. I'm taller than you, so When I use the pull up bar, i have to bend my legs backwards so they don't hit the ground. It sucks! Embrace the high bar!

Having to jump a little is good for pull ups. It is terrible to have to be conscience of bending your legs if the bar is to low or you are too tall.
If having to jump really bothers you, just use a small step stool that you can kick out of the way once you've gotten a hold of the bar.
