This is a very tough issue for so many of us. Sticking with it is so hard.

You need to have a lifestyle change in your eating. It will have to be something that you do for the rest of your life. Once you stop the weight will come back.

You need to find out what foods make you tired and which ones give you energy. Start keeping track of that as it is different for different people and has a lot to do with weight gain.

Try staying away from white flour and processed foods.
Make sure you get wheat products, 100 whole wheat not enriched wheat flour, there is a difference.
Fresh veggies preferably, or frozen, but no canned stuff.

This is what has worked for me, lost 15lbs since January not exercising due to ankle injuries and the best part is my energy level increased no more afternoon tiredness.

Good luck.

You could try a dietrician but they're expensive!! You have to change your lifestyle if you really wanna lose weight. You can't let things slide, don't give in when it's 7:00 on Friday night, you're starving to death and there's a McDonalds. Try to cut out fast food and extrememly limit junk food. Realize that you're not gonna lose the weight instantly...it'll take some time. If you have spare time join the gym. It helps if you can do a "diet" with some girlfriends or have the family join in! Good Luck, I hope you can lose some weight and fit into those skinny pants : )

well try to eat alot of salads, excercise real good, or maybe even take yoga or pilates classes

I found a high protein diet to work best. This is NOT a protein only fad diet. Simply eat 5 to 6 times a day, small meals and include some protein in each meal. Also include lots of fresh fruit and vegies, nuts and wholegrains. I found that eating this way was easy because there is no rigid list of foods that you have to eat, I don't feel hungry (thanks to the protein) and I have boundless energy. Protein is easy to find too - a slice of cheese, a hard boiled egg, a small tin of tuna - doesn't have to mean steak!!

Hmm try setting attainable goals that fit in with your lifestyle...
cutting out all sugar? that's tough...
but how about eating sugar through fruits instead of some other means? Thats attainable

Instead of buying fattening snacks for the kids, try encouraging them to eat fruits, this will help you to eat them too...

Take your kids out for walks... take them to the gym with you (they usually have a play place for kids if your a member)

Try energy drinks (although those are mostly surgar, so not recommended) but I promise you, exercising will make you have MORE energy...

I just wake up really early when no one else in the house wants to be up (4:30 to 5 am) Get in an hour work out then everyone else wakes up. Its hard getting out of bed but set a time like 3 months or so that you will not let yourself make excuses during that time (because you will feel like it may, be does not work)... but don't let that stop you, you can only change the plan after 3 months that will give you enough time to decide if you were just making excuses or you really need to adjust the plan.

I lost 55lbs. over 2 years with Calorie Counting and exercise. I'm 5'9" and weighed 225#. I tried to keep my calories between 1300-2000/day (eat 4-5x/day making sure to have protien with all meals and snacks). I lifted weights once a week and did 30+minutes of cardio 3 times a week (walk, bike, rollerblade, xc ski).

I've kept it off for 2 years, however fluctuated 5lbs the 1st year and now 10lbs this year and finding it hard to get beyond this point. I'm blaming my metabolism at the moment. It seems my calorie requirements have decreased by 500c/day in the last year.

I also tried to drink 8 cups of H2O/day. I carry a cooler with me everywhere with lots of 100c snacks to prevent being ravenous and pigging out. I listened to a wt. loss hypnosis tape at bedtime somewhat frequently.

I used a heart rate monitor with exercise. I could calculate exactly how much I should have lost in a week. There are calorie calculators online based on age, weight, height, activity level. 3500c=1lb.

Find your calorie requirements, create a calorie defecit daily - usually 500 calories and subtract calories burned by exercise weekly. Lots of sites with food values available.

Measure yourself monthly as well. You will often see inches lost when not losing lbs.

I think the biggest key to my successful weight loss was emotional counseling. Dealing with triggers and excess baggage - still working on that one, but this is the 1st time I've lost weight and kept it off for a significant period of time.

In the past, it was always yo-yo before often gaining more than I had lost. Good Luck!

Write down what you eat every day & how much, cut back on
your portions & take Vitamins everyday, this should get you started. Another helpful hint is,- look through a magazine &
find someones picture with the weight you want to achieve
and put it on your fridge--it will be a constant reminder of the
goal You want.
