My mom is TOO skinny??!!!??!

Question: So my mom had lost a lot of weight over the last 2 years and now she only eats maybe one meal a day: peanut butter and crackers or cinnamon toast. She used to eat at least 3 meals a day. She is 115 lbs. and 5' 6". Is that abnormally skinny??? I always call her anorexic for fun(i know it isn't a funny topic but...) but now im scared that it may be kinda true. Again, I might just be a worry wort and am completely blowing stuff WAY out of proportion.

Your opinion???

No in relevance to her height technically she is not underweight.

If she has any family history with Depression, Obsessive Compusilve Disorder or any other mental illness it may be plausible.

As for being Anorexic I dont think such a drastic personality change would develope in an older female for it is generally teenage women that develope this disease.

She may feel obligated to your Father or someother male in her life, she could feel variety of things. She could fear if she is unattractive she may be left. She may fear your father or other male may cheat or commit adultery.

I think you should really confront your mother and tell her you really care for her health both mentally and physically and you will always be their for support.

If her weight keeps declining you may have to seek proffesional help.

well im 5'6 and weigh 118lbs.
and i think she is fine!!!

like im trying to get down to 110

no i think that one meal is pretty unhealthy.

instead of calling her anorexic, maybe tell her that her weight is really scaring you.

Talk to your mom. Tell her your worried about how little she eats. Come up with some plan where she eats more food each day. Healthy food. Also, come up with an exercise plan!

I think it's a very horrible idea to call someone Anorexic especially if there's a chance that they might be suffering. They feel pressured like they need to lose more weight or they just feel really self-conscious and worried about they're image. You really should just watch her day and see her eating habits and how much she exercises. If she's just really busy then she still needs help to start eating normally and regularly but if she just chooses not to eat to avoid gaining weight or just to get skinnier than she could be on an extreme diet or be suffering from Anorexia. It's a very, very, serious condition and you need to do all you can to figure it out because it could seriously affect her health if it goes on for two long including heart problems or even just fainting and passing out. Good luck!

Regardless of weight, one meal per day is not healthy. You need to have an honest conversation with your mother about healthy eating habits and how much you are worried about her. Good luck!

one meal a day is never healthy. if she is anorxic she may not even know it herself yet. she may get aggervated about your comming to her but do it for her health. come to her tell her your worried. or print some information on it and let her read on her own. Is she weighing alot or do you know?
hope it helps

Your mom is not too skinny. sounds about normal. maybe even a bit klight. She is in dieters paradise. she knows what she id doing . Dont worry so much. How about you, how are you doing?

At 5'6 her ideal weight would be 130 lbs so 115 lbs is at the light end of normal. Below 110 lbs would probably be underweight.
